derived from the ODbL[edit]

I stumbled across a source in Wikidata which states that in the license ODbL one could find a cooridinates for coordinate location (P625). So I checked

#defaultView:Map
select ?item ?coordinates where {
  ?item p:P625/prov:wasDerivedFrom/pr:P248 wd:Q1224853;
        wdt:P625 ?coordinates.
}
Try it! (https://w.wiki/EgV)

Apparently some or all are created by you. Since – I've seriously checked it – the license does not contain any coordinates. Do you really mean OpenStreetMap (Q936), which is not the Open Database License (Q1224853), but only uses it? CamelCaseNick (talk) 04:11, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Importing from OSM[edit]

I requested deletion of one of items that you created as a copyright-violating import of OSM data. See https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions#Q76939332 Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would propose to keep the data and add references to OpenStreetMap objects from the wikidata objects, e.g. as source. It must be made clear that the data was imported from OpenStreetMap and that the license is ODbL. —-Dieterdreist (talk) 21:57, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dieterdreist: Wikidata is licensed under the Creative Commons CC0 License (Q6938433), which does not require attribution. Therefore this not an option. --CamelCaseNick (talk) 21:45, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CamelCaseNick I have asked the OpenStreetMap-Foundation about inclusion of OpenStreetMap data in wikidata and they wrote it was ok to distribute ODbL licensed data inside a collective database, as long as the provisions of the ODbL are fulfilled. The CC0 does not guarantee that the contents are free of other rights. I also asked WMF a month or so ago, but did not get any reply so far. Dieterdreist (talk) 19:07, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ralf,

can you please shed some light on the purpose of this item? There is no sufficient information what this is supposed to be. -- H005 (talk) 17:41, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
