Creating properties

Hi!

It seems that you have tried to create properties "Hinfahrt" "Rückfahrt" at Q74424611 and Q74424273. In Wikidata we have a distinction between items and properties, and what you created are items, so you will not be able to use them as properties as you probably expected. To get them created as a properties, you need to propose it: see Wikidata:Property_proposal. If you need any help with that process, let me know by leaving a message on my talk page.

I created Q74424611 (Hinfahrt, Outbound journey) and Q74424273 (Rückfahrt, Inbound journey) as qualifier of P518 (applies to part) to be used with P6856 (average speed). I guess, it is what I needed.

I see! Well, you have stated instance of (P31)Wikidata qualifier (Q15720608) on them, whereas this is only meant to be used on "Wikidata properties which should only be used as qualifiers of other statements" (such as applies to part (P518)). What you have created is not qualifiers: these are qualifier values. Similarly, Q74424611 is not a Wikidata property, so it is inappropriate to use Wikidata item of this property (P1629) on it. − Pintoch (talk) 18:34, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Street in Luxembourg City

Thank you for your many contributions concerning the different streets in Luxembourg City.

In the future, can you use « located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) » rather than « location (P276) » for these different elements ? I leave you this link which will give you an overview of the available properties.

Well, I use « location (P276) » in addition to « located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) ». P131 is used to specify "is in the municipality of..." and P276 indicates a subcategory, i.e. the borough / quarter of ... within the P131. [[User:GilPe|GilPe]] (talk) 17:02, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi. Yeah, that's what I thought. But there's a legal limbo about it. The districts of Luxembourg are not considered official administrative entities. That way, it may be wrong to include them in located in the administrative territorial entity (P131). At the same time, it would seem that location (P276) is not intended for these elements either.

New family names and given names

Hi GilPe!

It's nice of you to create new names. Please be so kind and fill in at least these three properties, it will save the other Wikidata contributors a lot of work:

• For names in Latin script:

1. instance of (P31) (use "family name (Q101352)", "male given name (Q12308941)" or "female given name (Q11879590)")
2. writing system (P282) (use "Latin script (Q8229)")
3. native label (P1705) (use allways "mul" for the language specification; specific language specifications require a reference)

Tip: The easiest way would be to use the script from User:Bargioni, see: User:Bargioni/QuickNames

Note: Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Russian names, etc. must be created in their original script. User:Bargioni's tool is not suitable for this.

• For persons of Russian, Ukrainian, Serbian origin etc., and other countries with Cyrillic writing system, create the name in Cyrillic script:

1. instance of (P31) (use "family name (Q101352)", "male given name (Q12308941)" or "female given name (Q11879590)")
2. writing system (P282) (use "Cyrillic script (Q8209)")
3. native label (P1705) (use allways "mul" for the language specification; specific language specifications require a reference)

Note: The transliteration from e.g. Russian (Q7737)/Ukrainian (Q8798)/Serbian (Q9299) etc. to English (Q1860), French (Q150), German (Q188) and various other languages is different.

Incorrect use of subclass of (P279)

Hello –

These statements on "Deutsch-Luxemburgisches Schengen-Lyzeum Perl" (Q1201799) were incorrect, and I have removed them. Errors with instance of (P31) and subclass of (P279) lead to numerous false inferences, in this case including Deutsch-Luxemburgisches Schengen-Lyzeum Perl (Q1201799)subclass of (P279)process (Q3249551). When using these two properties, check the description of your value item, and make sure your statement follows Help:Basic membership properties. (In this case, a specific school is not a subclass of anything, because it isn't a class or type, it's a token.)
