Outreachy

[edit]

Hi. I’m sending this to all applicants of the 'Synchronising Wikidata and Wikipedias using pywikibot’ Outreachy project (phab:T276329). Thanks for all your contributions so far! You can continue sending contributions until the Outreachy deadline. If you haven’t already, please submit your contributions to Outreachy, and you might want to start writing your application if you haven’t already (the deadline is next week!) You can do so here. Also, the project has had a lot of interest, and there is only one place available, so I strongly encourage you to also submit contributions and applications to other Outreachy projects as well to increase your chances of doing an Outreachy internship! (Again, I’m saying this to all applicants.) Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 09:34, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Mike Peel: I would like to hear your feedback on the email I sent you last week. Ammarpad (talk) 09:52, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay, I've replied today. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 12:41, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your imports from enWP caused some constraint violations. Please check this. --Succu (talk) 19:53, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Succu, sorry for this belated response. I am checking this now. Thanks Ammarpad (talk) 11:33, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please tell AmmaBot not to add "official website" to musical works/compositions

[edit]

Hi there! Could you refrain from adding "official website" to instances of Q105543609 with your bot? These are rarely (I would say never), correct.

Example edit America - Wikidata

Kids' Choice Awards

[edit]

Hi- is there a way to not have official websites added to Kids' Choice Awards items here on Wikidata? I'm not super familiar with Wikidata myself, but just for an example, the 2021 article has an 'External links' section with all the links available there. When the bot added the official website here, this happened to the infobox, which is obviously not optimal... thanks in advance. Magitroopa (talk) 17:35, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Happened again, anything that can be done regarding this?... Magitroopa (talk) 12:50, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Magitroopa:, Thanks for your concern. You said official link should not added to Wikidata because the links are "available" at external link section. Please note, links at 'external link' section serve different purpose from these in infobox, and this script was specifically allowed to extract these links (from the article) and add them as official website (P856) property, so that they can be reuse across the projects and beyond. I don't see what's not optimal here since the link is not wrong. If what you're saying is that the link is wrong, please let me know. Thanks. Ammarpad (talk) 06:32, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Erroneous addition of "official website"

[edit]

Please stop the bot from adding brand "official websites" to the items of companies that no longer own the brand that the website is promoting. Examples of such companies include:

Done, thanks. Ammarpad (talk) 20:53, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. DeFacto (talk) 09:54, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DeFacto: Just to note that these issues probably reflect underlying issues with the Wikidata items and Wikipedia articles - in particular, are the right sitelinks linked to the right Wikidata items, and are the Wikipedia articles giving the right official website? Ammarpad's bot just imports these, so they aren't so much bot problems as they are Wikimedia data problems. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 10:45, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Peel, the problem here was that the current brand website URLs had been added to the Wikipedia articles about the defunct companies that originally created those brands. These website URLs were then copied to the mapped Wikidata items for the defunct companies. I suppose the bot could check the dates that the brand originating companies were active, and if they were already defunct, not copy the website URLs across. Official website of Tambon

[edit]

Plase stop adding the official website to Q16267148. No Tambon has a website, these always belong to the same-named local government units, which are different entities. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 16:29, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Tambon" mean subdistrict right? So do you mean the external link here is incorrect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khlong_Yong#External_links since it's added to the Tambon and not the local government article? If yes, please remove it from the article. Ammarpad (talk) 07:29, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Official websites with wrong syntax

[edit]

I detected that your bot added URLs to official website (P856) which are syntactical faulty like http://www.dumgal.gov.uk%20Local, see for instance https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q126514&diff=1613197046&oldid=1559463689. Can you check the additions of your bot and remove the mistakes? --RolandUnger (talk) 15:47, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
