Possible mix-up
[edit]Hi @Epìdosis: can you please recheck if the botanist is identical with:
- (Lord) William Herbert Pembroke = GND 11769343X, Q94830597
- mentioned here: Brief von William Herbert Pembroke an Théodore Gudin (Kalliope)
I've doubts because the name Pembroke isn't mentioned in the Wikipedia article. --Kolja21 (talk) 19:53, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Kolja21: It is highly probable in my opinion; since en:Earl of Pembroke (nor other sources, as far as I can see) cite a William Herbert as Earl of Pembroke that was born in 1778, I tend to think that the source simply said William Herbert and Pembroke was a wrong addition of the cataloger; to the contrary, "theologian" seems adequate for this person, William Herbert, who according to s:en:Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900/Herbert, William (1778-1847) was priest ("In 1814 he was ordained") and wrote works of Christian theme ("The epic poem entitled 'Attila, or the Triumph of Christianity,' in twelve books, with an historical preface, came out in 1838, the fruit of many years' labour, and a final volume of poems, 'The Christian,' in 1846."). So I am pretty confident that this person is 11769343X; the identification of 11769343X with the author of the letter is more doubtful; reading the letter would help in such cases ... --Epìdosis 22:36, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- Done I've filed a report to merge the duplicates. --Kolja21 (talk) 16:25, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
