Comment I thank you @Kolja21, PKM, Uomovariabile, Jason.nlw, Silva Selva:. In these days, while revising the Mix'n'match catalog with @Bargioni:, we unfortunately discovered that this website seems to be somehow outdated: a new one exists and it has 253765 entries (more than double of the 124857 entries in this one), but unfortunately this new authority file doesn't offer good URIs for the authority records. The fact that is website is older is a just deduction, because we didn't find any explicit statement of its obsolescence; ideally, if someone is able to contact the National Library, having their confirmation about the relationship between these two websites would be the best way to have a clear picture of the situation. As of now, I put the property "on hold". --Epìdosis 07:28, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

Motivation[edit]
The pre-existing "LGD local body code" property which is used for various types of Indian administrative entities like states/districts/subdistricts has a couple of problems. Firstly the collision problem, there can be collision across various entity types( a state LGD code can be the same of another district's LGD code ). Secondly, there is also a problem where any block of West Bengal has 2 LGD codes, one as subdistrict and another as a block, this breaks the single value constraint. Creation of separate LGD State or UT code, LGD District Code, LGD Subdistrict Code, LGD Block Code etc would alleviate these problems. LGD Block Code is the first of the separate identifiers which is to be used only for the Community Development Block entities. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by RamSeraph (talk • contribs) at 15:20, April 25, 2024 (UTC).

- It's a small Russian version of Patreon allegedly flourished after Patreon itself was banned in Russia a year ago. Before voting for this relatively new and relatively unknown service I'd like to have a general idea of how many notable persons might really use it (for the record: we currently have 1269 WD items with Patreon ID). - Support. @putnik: I managed to scrape a little over 50 identifiers from the start page. Not sure how many of these are notable, but it could be a good start. I also see some Russian video game related news websites using this platform. If no one has any further objections, I'll mark this proposal "as ready" right tomorrow, and then about 24 hours after the "ready" status, I'll create this property. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 07:00, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose Just because someone has the equivalent of a Patreon page does not make them notable. The site can have a great number of profiles on it to make up for it, but I don't see any content creator counts here. Edit: 50 random people is nowhere near enough. For a proposal to pass it needs 100 notable people minimum. As an example if you assume 2% of the people on the site would qualify for a page on russian wikipedia, that would still mean you need to show there is 5000 content creators on the site. The numbers aren't that important, you get the idea. Infrastruktur (talk) 23:42, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

Bildindex der Kunst und Architektur PID[edit]
Motivation[edit]
Most recently, a so-called Objekt-PID has been added to all descriptions of artworks (and other objects, like buildings) within Bildindex. These URI's are not only persistent but can also identify objects which are described on a narrower level of a complex hierarchy. Thus helping to solve the issues mentioned by two topics of this property talk.
- Example 3 shows how the corresponding Bildindex PID will link to a description on a narrower level of a hierarchically structured object record.
- Example 4 is linked to a PID that belongs to a record that has been merged into a duplicate and will be deleted soon. Thus the PID http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001439045 is already re-directed to the preferred description with URI http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001729282.
- Example 5 solves an issue (format violation) that cannot be solved with the current Bildindex property.
As proposed by @Marsupium, the cleanest way to improve the issues mentioned above is to create a new property, then update all items currently referring to Bildindex der Kunst und Architektur ID (P2092) and later retire or delete the then deprecated property P2092.
Discussion[edit]
- Support per this discussion. I don't have time right now to look into details of this proposal. I'm sure though we should have the property, details can still be improved even after creation. Best, --Marsupium (talk) 16:19, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Comment If the first 3 digits are always "000" (for now) we could make the allowed values regex a bit more restrictive like
000\d{7}
. Best, --Marsupium (talk) 16:12, 15 April 2024 (UTC)- Good point! It took us more than 100 years to reach the current max which is still below http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0005000000, so 'for now' it's true that the first 3 digits are always "000". -- Klaus Bulle DDK Bildarchiv Foto Marburg (talk) 09:16, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Comment If the first 3 digits are always "000" (for now) we could make the allowed values regex a bit more restrictive like
- Comment This Object-ID in bildindex is very finegrained (and not really hierarchical). In case of buildings I see lots of 1:n relations in Wikidata. Look at this example Pfarrkirche St. Pankratius und Dorothea (Q107544563): The related GND is 4666950-4. By using the Bildindex-GND resolver https://www.bildindex.de/gnd-beacon/4666950-4 You get 7 different results with different Objekt-PIDs. The PID http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001546953 looks like the "master" building entry, but this PID does not have any hierarchical relations to the other PIDs for the sculptures, parts, etc of the building. This means, that ALL 7 PIDs have to be included in Wikidata entry Pfarrkirche St. Pankratius und Dorothea (Q107544563) (with specifying qualifiers)! If You wonder, why the GND resolver lists all 7 entries properly combined: It looks like the GND is not related in bildindex to any of the Objekt-PIDs directly. Instead there is a GND relation to an internal geographical/place entry "Katholische Pfarrkirche Sankt Pankratius und Dorothea". And this place entry is connected to all 7 Objekt-PIDs. Unfortunately this place entity "Katholische Pfarrkirche Sankt Pankratius und Dorothea" doesn't have an usable persistent ID. But maybe I haven't understood the Bildindex structure correctly... --Arch2all (talk) 15:46, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- The Objekt-PID in Bildindex identifies a real-world entity and - as an URI - links to a document with the description of this entity. Hierarchical relationships can be expressed within the document structure, e.g. for http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001242352 (see "Werkstruktur"), or using certain fields in order to create relationships to other descriptions, e.g. http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001283219 ("Bezugswerk: Teil von Bauernhof, Kleine Klausstraße, 16" - using the internal document number as link, not yet the Objekt-PID). The latter is the case for 6 out of 7 descriptions that you are currently retrieving with https://www.bildindex.de/gnd-beacon/4666950-4: only http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001546953 has a sameAs relationship to the GND ID for "Sankt Pankratius und Dorothea (Rißtissen)", all other objects are related to this building via the field entry "Standort:Ehingen (Donau), Rißtissen, Katholische Pfarrkirche Sankt Pankratius und Dorothea", whereby "Katholische Pfarrkirche Sankt Pankratius und Dorothea" is linked to https://www.bildindex.de/werke/gallery/obj-obj_id_ref/gnd4666950-4. Use only the Objekt-PID of this document (http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001546953) if you want to add a "Bildindex der Kunst und Architektur PID" (after its approval and creation) to Pfarrkirche St. Pankratius und Dorothea (Q107544563). Please feel free to create new Wikidata entries for those objects related to the building - if we at Deutsches Dokumentationszentrum für Kunstgeschichte - Bildarchiv Foto Marburg (Q28734805) are not going to do it ;-) -- Klaus Bulle DDK Bildarchiv Foto Marburg (talk) 14:59, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- I think that the proposed "Bildindex PID"/"Objekt PID" is a clearer and cleaner way to reference objects listed in the Bildindex. While I see your point in mentioning the 1:n relationships, I guess that eventually the instances where you will really want to have multiple Bildindex PIDs in a single Wikidata item will be rather limited as such cases will be indicative of a flawed modelling of the data in the item that will have to be dealt with. Adopting the new Bildindex PID and benefiting from the Bildindex data will probably result in higher data quality of the Wikidata items as well. Awinkler3 (talk) 09:50, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
case number (mainland China)[edit]

Motivation[edit]
This property is a copycat of Supreme Court of Canada case number (P12592) to help identify cases in mainland China, i.e. the WTO China.
Case number is an unique* id-like text assigned for one legal proceeding, referencing the year the case was filed, court responsible for the judgement, trial type (first/appeal/retrial/restraining order etc.) and a sequence number of this trial type in that court.
It is shown on all formal legal documents related to that case. The case number for the previous legal proceeding must be cited in the appealing judgement text. See red links in s:zh:最高人民法院(2018)最高法行再128号行政裁定书 - (year) means legal proceedings, while 〔year〕 means out-of-court administrative decisions and appeals (lit. Administrative Reconsideration).
However, when the court doesn't want people to dig into a specific case, they don't exposure the case number in the press releases. For example, the case number or its full judgement text was never published for Kris Wu scandal (Q107612866), as of today.
Note: It is considered unique for cases filed in the recent years, using computer systems. I can't guarantee all case numbers don't conflict with each other before the nation-wide digitization, like before 2010.
I don't suggest restricting user input with regex. Third party like WIPO Lex use their own way to transliteration case numbers (e.g. Commercial Press Co., Ltd. V. Sinolingua Co., Ltd. (2016) J 73 MC No. 277, Beijing Intellectual Property Court) and the result doesn't fit to existing formatting, but it's still worth preserving when no corresponding Chinese number is available. A regex may also block case numbers before ~1970 from entering.

Motivation[edit]
Flanders Arts Institute is the database for performing arts in Brussels and Flanders. They have built a database with all kinds of data about these performing arts. They are moving the database to one new single database with completely new identifiers. In 2018 four properties have been created, one for venuesrequest, one for peoplerequest, one for organisationsrequest, and one for productionsrequest. Now a single new property is needed for the identifiers of their new database to link to venues, people, organisations and productions. After creation, the new identifiers will be imported into Wikidata. Romaine (talk) 10:32, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

- Comment First, this sounds like non-structured data, and not something really suitable for Wikidata. Also there is a rather short length limit on text fields in Wikidata, unlikely to be long enough to hold a typical abstract. Finally your proposal should include some real examples - see other proposals for how to do this. ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:21, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
