@MJL: thanks for the welcome --DannyS712 (talk) 01:12, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Of course! I do it often lol. –MJLTalk 01:46, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

"tweaks"

Hello. Thanks for your help. But this is not correct. If you remove a closing tag from an "inline" (span-wrapped) unit and join it with another div-wrapped unit, the first one also becomes a div-wrapped unit, which we have to avoid in lists. If you invalidated the first unit (inside a list), there would be a <div> tag inside <li>, which renders very bad. Please keep this in mind as that was a step back. --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 16:40, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

@Matěj Suchánek: thanks for the explanation - I'll make sure to avoid this in the future. Sorry, --!DannyS712 (talk) 20:39, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Template

Hi Danny, ich translated the Template:Single or multiple lexeme in Wikidata:Lexicographical data/Documentation, but the translated versions do not appear in the documentation. TNT didn't´work. What am I doing wrong? Regards --Partynia (talk) 05:48, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

@Partynia: I'm not sure why TNT didn't work, but I fixed it (and also noinclude'd the languages tag in the template, but that shouldn't have been the issue) - thanks for your contributions to translating --DannyS712 (talk) 05:56, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. Maybe it didn't work because I looked at it in the preview only.--Partynia (talk) 06:04, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

Danny, one more question: Creating an individual user-page there is a insertion saying: "This page currently displays a user page from another wiki. If you create a new page here, it will no longer display the other wiki's page." The translation of this inserted sentence (into German, maybe others too) is wrong. Where can I change this insertion? Regards --Partynia (talk) 07:37, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

@Partynia: are you talking about "Diese Seite zeigt derzeit eine Benutzerseite von einem anderen Wiki an. Falls du hier eine neue Seite erstellst, wird sie auf anderen Wikiseiten nicht mehr angezeigt."? What should it be instead? --DannyS712 (talk) 07:49, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Yes. It should be: "Diese Seite zeigt derzeit eine Benutzerseite von einem anderen Wiki an. Falls du hier eine neue Seite erstellst, wird die Seite des anderen Wikis hier nicht mehr angezeigt." --Partynia (talk) 07:54, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
@Partynia: I copied it to translatewiki (translatewiki:Special:Diff/8961683) - it should be updated here in a few days --DannyS712 (talk) 08:00, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. Who is entitled to change it on MediaWiki:Globaluserpage? Are there any other translations (fr, es, pl etc.)? --Partynia (talk) 08:14, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Other translations are at https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex?prefix=Globaluserpage-editnotice&namespace=8 - locally, admins can edit the translations, but translation corrections are encouraged to be done on translatewiki --DannyS712 (talk) 08:22, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Danny. I checked 6 other languages (es, it, pl, fr, nl, cs). All of them are translated correctly. So a translation admin is not entitled to change it, right? --Partynia (talk) 08:34, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
If you are talking about editing the translation here on wikidata, that is for admins. Translatewiki is a separate wiki, not hosted by the WMF, but any translator can edit the translation there. --DannyS712 (talk) 08:35, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
But translation here on wikidata, is also for translation admins? I mentioned a similar problem here: [[1]].--Partynia (talk) 08:40, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
To edit a translation, you need the `translate` right, which all users have here. To mark a page for translation you need to be a translation admin, but to do the translation you don't need to be. --DannyS712 (talk) 08:42, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

Wikinews

Why are you making a mess? Now all other Wikinews languages does not have the most important interwiki link. Are you going to move those other languages as well? You have to do it. Otherwise anything does not make any sense. --Wnews reader (talk) 08:49, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Enwikinews policy is that the category for a topic should have the same wiki data item as the topic, so that, eg, when looking at the article for donal trump, the inter wiki link to wiki news shows up. I don’t know about other wikis’ policies, so I don’t intend to move their links, but can if desired --DannyS712 (talk) 11:23, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
I am not speaking about any policies. I am speaking about common sense. Other languages of Wikinews needs the most important interwiki link (English). Now they don't have it. They need be on the same place, of course. --Wnews reader (talk) 11:33, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
On enwikinews, the common sense is to link the category to the subject. I don’t know about other projects --DannyS712 (talk) 11:57, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Pardon., DannyS712. Wnews reader is correct that all the Wikinews links, not just the English one, should be moved. This is not peculiar to just the English-language edition. See Wikidata:Wikinews/Development. --Pi zero (talk) 12:25, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
I stand corrected. Will move some more languages --DannyS712 (talk) 12:27, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
I still want to say this: Wikidata's basic functionality is provide interwiki links between different languages. So this is a no-brainer. Hopefully you will move ALL of them. --Wnews reader (talk) 13:00, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Just started eswikinews --DannyS712 (talk) 12:47, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
It may, or may not, be useful to note there is a gadget for moving all the links for a given project on a given item to another item. I have it selected on my preferences and have often used it, for this purpose. The only thing to watch out for (that I can think of atm) is that one or two of the Wikinews projects have peculiarities of structure that result in more than one link floating around, so that one might be on the item for a Wikipedia article while another for that same Wikinews is on the item for the corresponding Wikipedia category. --Pi zero (talk) 12:54, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Indeed, but I don't know how to do that automatically; quick statements is pretty straightforward --DannyS712 (talk) 12:57, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
I suspected that might be an obstacle to using the gadget. Yet, as Wnews reader points out, the point of the exercise is to move all the Wikinews links, en masse. All the Wikinews pages should interwiki to each other, just as all of them should be listed at the Wikipedia article. So this really ought to be done by item, rather than by Wikinews project. --Pi zero (talk) 13:07, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Hmm, well, if you want to help, I'm grateful, but I don't have the time to go through each item. I can, however, set quickstatements to do it while I do real-life commitments. Just started nlwikinews --DannyS712 (talk) 13:09, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
...just started ptwikinews --DannyS712 (talk) 13:15, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
ru, de. --Pi zero (talk) 13:33, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Just started de. I'll need to do ru later (hopefully tomorrow) since the letters aren't latin --DannyS712 (talk) 13:37, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Interwiki links between different languages of Wikinews are still broken. When are you going to move cs, fi, fr, ru and others? Or you think that readers of those languages are less important? --Wnews reader (talk) 15:11, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
I thought that, after the issues with the previous languages, I would try to come up with a better method. You are welcome to move some of those links too --DannyS712 (talk) 16:22, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi. The inclusion/notability requirement for the WikiNews and Category: does not apply to Project: namespace, nor main page.  — billinghurst sDrewth 20:38, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for catching those - I tried to screen out the project namespace pages, but I guess I didn't catch them all. --DannyS712 (talk) 20:40, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
You just did it again for a main page. You may wish to review your contributions to see what else you have beyond what I have watchlist'd.  — billinghurst sDrewth 21:06, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I've been doing that - the quickstatements batches have finished, and if I do more I'll filter out the project namespace better --DannyS712 (talk) 21:08, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: would you mind taking a look before I run the next batch? I added a number of filters - the query is at https://w.wiki/ARk. It excludes moving to items that are tagged as instance of (P31)Wikimedia project page (Q14204246) or instance of (P31)Wikimedia help page (Q56005592), as well as to has use (P366)Wikimedia internal item (Q17442446) or from instance of (P31)Wikimedia administration category (Q15647814). Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 04:16, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
I generally always review my watchlist, cannot guarantee that I will see anything outside of that.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:39, 20 October 2019 (UTC)

New page for catalogues

Hi, I created a new page for collecting sites that could be added to Mix'n'match and I plan to expand it with the ones that already have scrapers by category. Feel free to use, expand. Best, Adam Harangozó (talk) 19:56, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Kategorie:Brasilianische Personalie

--Mef.ellingen (talk) 14:27, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you wrote, and google translate didn't help - I'm confused. Can you explain in English? Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 17:00, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
I will try it, it is not so easy. You have open a Kategorie:Brasilianische Personalie, i don't no, why. This make mistakes at the german WP, because there is listet this category automatically in an artikel, which will be updatet every day. So i have a red category evereyday in the list of mistakes. I don't know, why you need the word "Kategorie", because there is only one spain information with "category" and 20 information without it. I have delayed this word in Brasilianische Personalie and i hope that i have no mistake more. --Mef.ellingen (talk) 18:27, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure what this is about, but if I made a bad edit you can undo it --DannyS712 (talk) 19:59, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
I have no mistake more after this change. --Mef.ellingen (talk) 22:52, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

Restore qualifiers and references of anonymous authors

Hi DannyS712, you seem to have mass replaced author (P50) -> anonymous (Q4233718) with unknown value, but in the process you removed the qualifiers and the references. Please restore this data. If you're unable to do so, please undo your batch. Multichill (talk) 22:17, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

I didn't realize it was removing the references. But, how do I undo the batch? --DannyS712 (talk) 22:19, 26 December 2019 (UTC)
https://tools.wmflabs.org/editgroups/?user=DannyS712 --GZWDer (talk) 15:56, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
I come here with the same request... you've removed all qualifiers for signature of articles, like [2]... which is very problematic to wikisource items... - for those, the "anonym" author linked to a specific category, link that disappeared with you hasty change... at least, users who used that way of indicating unknown author should have been notified, and the matter discussed, as it was previously, and maintained this way... :(
please undo your batch ! --Hsarrazin (talk) 09:10, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Undoing now, sorry --DannyS712 (talk) 18:27, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

Please don’t double-revert me

I was going to fix the wrong tag, yes. But please give me a few seconds to do so before reverting my edit, to again restore your semantically incorrect markup. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 23:21, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

okay correction apparently you didn’t revert after all? not sure why the notification told me so? --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 23:22, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
@Lucas Werkmeister: I hit undo and then edited the text so that you would get a notification and be able to take a look. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Is it okay now? --DannyS712 (talk) 23:23, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
@DannyS712: well, it is, I was going to leave some more info in the edit summary (along the lines of {{Tool2}} being the precedent for having no tags in “your common.js”) but nevermind. Thanks for cleaning up the lint errors, anyways. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 23:26, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our gift is better than the one at Commons or Meta)

Here's your badge: {{User admin}}/{{#babel:admin}} and {{Admin topicon}}. Enjoy!

Congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Wikidata. Please take a moment to read the Wikidata:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Wikidata:Project chat, Wikidata:Requests for comment, and Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikidata-admin @ irc.freenode.net. If you need access, you can flag someone down at #wikidata @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Wikidata:Guide to Adminship to be useful reading. You may also want to consider adding yourself to meta:Template:Wikidata/Ambassadors, and to any similar page on your home wiki if one exists. (Check Wikipedia:Wikidata/Wikidatans (Q14964498).)

Please also add/update the languages you speak to your listing at Wikidata:List of administrators. You may also like to add your username to this list if you would not like that items you delete at RfD get marked as deleted automatically. Again, welcome to the admin corps!

Hello i'm really in the music business why did you delete it?

RfD

Hey DannyS712, I am not happy with Special:Diff/1133868652. These items are neither properly identified, nor is its content verifiable, nor do we have structural need for them. I nominated them with the hope that someone knows something about them and improved them; however, as this has not happend unfortunately, I think a deletion would be the way to go here. Otherwise we just pile up dead content that probably nobody will ever be able to improve. —MisterSynergy (talk) 11:15, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

I agree that its not ideal, but the list was updated repeatedly, making it hard to track the discussion, and its been open for over 2 months. I have nothing against renomination, but I just wanted to trigger archiving --DannyS712 (talk) 11:17, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
The section is open for 14 months, I opened this discussion in January 2019! IMO it does not help if we archive it now, and list the remaining ~380 items again. —MisterSynergy (talk) 11:20, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
Misread the year as 2020, not 2019, sorry. All the more reason to start the discussion fresh, in my opinion --DannyS712 (talk) 11:31, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
I could remove the items from the list of the existing section that are no longer up for deletion. Should be fairly easy to do, but it does not significantly shorten the list… —MisterSynergy (talk) 11:35, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
I have reverted my edit. I suggest splitting the remaining items into a new discussion, but its not a strong preference --DannyS712 (talk) 11:36, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

I have now removed the majority of items, because of director (P57) or director of photography (P344) claims to items with sitelinks. This is still all unsourced, but some might consider this as "structural need". No idea how to rescue the remaining 91 items, but perhaps someone else has an idea… —MisterSynergy (talk) 12:22, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Qualifying tournament

Hello Danny, before I start another request for property, do you find suitable a property for the qualification to a sports tournament? for example, for the item Q2724176 (rugby world cup), a property that indicates "qualified through" Q21207829 (2019 Rugby World Cup qualifying)? And in case, does a similar property already exist? -- Blackcat (talk) 19:08, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

template:checkuser

What exactly does adding '|short=yes' to this property do?--Trade (talk) 21:34, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

It hides all of the guc / interaction links, to show less. I replaced {{Vandal}} with {{Checkuser}} to allow tracking uses of checkuser, but checkuser has a lot more links --DannyS712 (talk) 21:36, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Should i always use the short version of this template? --Trade (talk) 21:39, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Not necessarily; I would just use the short version instead of {{Vandal}} when listing a bunch of accounts (purely to avoid the huge number of links from the normal version) --DannyS712 (talk) 21:47, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

batch #27169

Dear Danny,

In your batch operation you removed all links from objects in the Rijksmuseum collection to their representations in Europeana. Actually, this was quite useful data. See you, any change to restore this? --HarmN (talk) 17:49, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

I removed the claims because the property was being deleted, so they shouldn't be restored with the deleted property --DannyS712 (talk) 19:00, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Convert datatype from string to external-id

As you are a coder for MW property sort, maybe you can help with the conversion at Property talk:P946#Identifier? Sometimes I saw "maintenance script" in an edit summary doing the conversion. Does that need to go to phabricator? MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 00:10, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes, to convert it you need to file a task on phabricator --DannyS712 (talk) 00:19, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
I found a phabtask above in the newsletter in the section above and from that found a contact page and this in turn has Wikidata:Contact the development team#Conversion to external-id (June 8). MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 00:26, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

German Wikinews: Portals and "Themenportal" categories

DannyS712, I've noticed that you replace German Wikinews portals by German Wikinews "Themenportal" categories in Wikidata. Please, stop doing it, "Themenportals" are NOT portals, according to their main category (see de:n:Kategorie:Themenportal: "Diese Kategorie dient der alphabetischen Auflistung aller Themenportale von Wikinews. Die Portale selbst sind über das Portal:Hauptportal zu finden und werden in der Regel automatisch aktualisiert. Es gilt auch hier die Regel, dass grundsätzlich nur Kategorien mit wenigstens 10 Einträgen aufgeführt werden sollten.").

To avoid overlapping, it's better to use portal categories for "Themenportal" categories. If you're still against it, I expect a reasonable explanation from you, especially considering that you aren't a native German speaker.--Russian Rocky (talk) 23:56, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

@Russian Rocky: I apologize for that, though your tone is a bit combative - I did one run of those, and don't recall editing them since --DannyS712 (talk) 01:21, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for your cooperation, DannyS712. If you have no objection, I'll take care of portal entries using the above mentioned pattern. Also, I apologize if you found my message a bit combative. I encountered two Wikidata entries, where German Wikinews links were replaced, and suspected the worse (remembering that admins are prone to mass changes). That's why it sounded alarming, unfortunately.--Russian Rocky (talk) 02:09, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
No problem - if I recall I think this was part of a larger update to wikinews links, but I'm not familiar with dewikinews specifically --DannyS712 (talk) 02:13, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Ok, thank you for informing me about the update, I'll check it out later. Though, it's unlikely to be related to the German Wikinews and its portals. As you may notice, those "Themeportal" categories are primarily used to display news on portal pages via DynamicPageList.--Russian Rocky (talk) 03:23, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Property proposals

I don't remember already which id's I proposed before. I used the archive but couldn't find anything so which one is doubled? Eurohunter (talk) 22:39, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Not sure what you mean - I was talking about your edits to Wikidata:Property proposal/Qobuz album ID and Wikidata:Property proposal/Juno Download album ID --DannyS712 (talk) 22:40, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
I think I know now where is problem. I used button here to create new property proposals and it looks like it let me overwrite previous proposals without any notification? Eurohunter (talk) 22:44, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Please help

Hi greetings, I would like to nominate this user Gnoeee for administrator status. But before that, I am asking you for a help. Since you are one of the experienced user in Wikidata, I am asking you. I have checked this user's contributions and seems fine. Already a property creator and rollbacker here. Would you mind reviewing this user's works? Also, please give your feedback. Kindly please help. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 09:22, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

I'd suggest discussing it with that user rather than with me --DannyS712 (talk) 16:51, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Request for help

Hi greetings. Would you do me a favour? I am using huggle to revert vandalism in Wikipedia. I also used it on other wikis also. But always, when I tried to revert edits in item pages in Wikidata, huggle does not work. It can give messages in talkpage, but couldn't revert edits. What is the reason behind this? Would you mind helping me? Hope you'll help. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 03:19, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

No idea, sorry --DannyS712 (talk) 04:28, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
Would you mind describing which tool you use to counter vandalism in wikidata besides SWviewer? I ask this because I believe you will help. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 04:41, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
Haven't used SWViewer in a while, other than that no other tools --DannyS712 (talk) 05:00, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for the help. Hope you'll help in future also.--PATH SLOPU 05:13, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Closure of deletion discussion

Hi DannyS712. I noticed you closed the discussion of Q98077491, despite that being the only item that is pratically in use. A way how to replace it was outlined. The use of that iitem breaks the model currently in use for the position. Oddly the creator of the items avoids responding to any question about that change. As Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions is the forum for deleting item, I think it should be there. If you prefer, I can nominate all other similar items. Alternative, we could just re-open the discussion and let the creator respond to the open questions. I spare you my view on the conduct of the participants, as this isn't the question at hand. --- Jura 13:07, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

As I said in my closing comment (see Wikidata:Requests for deletions/Archive/2020/08/20#Q98077491) - "I suggest opening a discussion with the relevant WikiProject, or an RfC" regarding whether this type of item should exist, rather than forcing one at RfD DannyS712 (talk) 03:08, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
The question is not about the type in general, but this specific one for US senators. There are plenty of similar questions on RfD, but you only choose to close this one. I hope it isn't the conduct by the two other participants that made you take this action. --- Jura 05:35, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Why is this specific one different from all of the other ones? DannyS712 (talk) 22:07, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Pratically only Q98077491 is in use for US senator (apparently an undiscussed (AFAIK), arbitrary change by a new editor). The other items were just created and never used. United States senator (Q4416090) follows a model with multiple P39 of Q4416090. It seems fairly obvious if you look at some of them. 07:04, 22 August 2020 (UTC)--- Jura
If you'd like to appeal my close / overturn it, please open a discussion at WD:AN --DannyS712 (talk) 08:19, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Re:Bot

As requested I've filed a request for a flag. But thanks, now I will need to wait God knows how long to do just some basic stuff. Tufor (talk) 22:57, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

Now that there is an open bot request for approval, you can "do a test run of between 50 and 250 edits" - if I unblock the bot will you agree to limit the edits to 250 demo edits, including (counting) the edits already made? DannyS712 (talk) 22:58, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
Please ping me when you reply. I've already done more than 250+ edits like this. Tufor (talk) 23:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
@Tufor in that case, I guess the only thing to do now is to wait for community responses DannyS712 (talk) 23:01, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

Tiny suggestion

Ciao Danny, On your personal page, you put a link to the creation of props that you have created. Don't you want to make a table replacing this link (on a new page for example)? The more numerous your contributions, the heavier the load and the longer the research time. I think a lot of people have already clicked on this link following your application. My warmest regards. Newbie needs to be pointed in the right direction.

On https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xj8-xjr-x350-x358-28/obd-error-codes-241702/#post2339098 there is a proposal to create a knowledge base of OBD error codes. OBD (On Board Diagnostics) refers to a computer in cars made after 1996. While dealers have detailed systems, when a car is ten years old or older, the dealer is not interested in support, and the dealer shop cost for repairs is not commensurate with the car's value. Accordingly, forums arise where members share their knowledge. However, forums are a bad structure for collective knowledge.

The format used in Wikipedia is ideal for this type of collective knowledge, where one takes the source code for the screen, copies it into Wikipedia, and the basic structure is installed, for members to add their knowledge. However, Wikipedia will delete such a posting because it is not deemed an appropriate subject for an encyclopedia. It appears WikiData is an appropriate site, but I am unable to work out if its framework is similar to Wikipedia. If it requires I add each diagnostic code separately, it would take too long for what is a hobby. Following the tutorials was not much help, probably because I am intuitive learner.

Is WikiData the right tool, and if not, can you point me in the right direction?  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by X350X358 (talk • contribs) at 20:09, 11 January 2021 (UTC).

I don't think wikidata is the right tool, since it would require adding each code separately as its own item. Not sure what the right direction would be, sorry. --DannyS712 (talk) 00:09, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Help with a deleted listing.

I'm fairly new to wiki data. And I couldn't find much information regarding wikidata online as well. I created an item for Q6 cloud accounting https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q106548956 and it seems it was deleted for advertising/spamming reasons. The listing was created for education purposes and not to advertise reasons. I've checked on the site and there are many similar listings to the one I created. For instance the listing for this company https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8043794 seems very similar content format wise to the listing I created. Why was the listing I created not approved? And is there something I need to improve on? Thank you.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Q6CloudAccounting (talk • contribs) at 03:19, 19 April 2021 (UTC).

@Q6CloudAccounting: the difference between your item and Xero (Q8043794) is that the latter clearly meets the notability policy (Wikidata:Notability) since it has sitelinks, while your entry did not appear to be notable. --DannyS712 (talk) 06:00, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Could you please explain...

I got an email saying you deleted Q105247454, because it wasn't notable, citing notability policy

Okay. Did I start that item? If so, what was it about? Geo Swan (talk) 02:41, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

@Geo Swan yes, you created that item - it was about "Abuhena Saif Ul Islam" DannyS712 (talk) 02:42, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah. And was it about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abuhena_Saifulislam ? Geo Swan (talk) 03:00, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Hmm, I guess it was, and so it was a duplicate, since that already has an item Abuhena Saifulislam (Q4670544) --DannyS712 (talk) 03:19, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors

Dear DannyS712,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at the King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized (?) to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me on kholoudsaa@gmail.com or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me using the email mentioned above if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Kholoud  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kholoudsaa (talk • contribs) at 12:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC).

Email available?

Hello!

I'd like to email you the joining information for the CheckUser/Oversight meeting you've expressed interest in attending this coming Sunday but you do not have email enabled. As this information contains access passcodes, I don't want to post them on-wiki. Is there an efficient way to get this information to you? Keegan (WMF) (talk) 17:11, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

@Keegan (WMF): due to targeting by multiple LTAs I have disabled my email on all but one wiki - not going to post which wiki publicly, but its the one you sent me an email on for the GS meeting (I'm both a GS and an Oversighter) --DannyS712 (talk) 17:53, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

How does one do vandal patrolling here?

Just wondering because I'd want to know how to help out and Wikidata isn't like other wikis. SHB2000 (talk) 08:18, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi DannyS712,

When updating this page, would you also take care of its talk page? I just noticed that edit requests get archived without being processed and there is a backlog on that page. We probably lack admins to do protected edit requests. --- Jura 10:48, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
