Enslaved status as as an occupation on Enslaved.org?

[edit]

Hi, I was sorry to miss the LD4 call with the Black Bibliography Project yesterday. Pinging @Marcae16 since you wrote the content but please do draw my attention to who this question should go to. I note that the direction for how to model that a person is enslaved states that Enslaved.org expressed enslaved status as a type of Occupation (equivalent to occupation (P106)). Having checked the Enslaved.org's Controlled Vocabularies standards, this is exactly what they do not do. Enslaved status is expressed as a Relationship (Persistent blood, fictive, or legal connection among persons or organizations) or Person Status(Category identifying the legal or social standing), and not Occupation (Profession, trade, or vocation of the named person). Since all of these discussions form a type of precedence it would be great if there was some more clarity about the approach used by Enslaved.org. Hi @MassiveEartha. Thanks for pinging me. You are absolutely right; I will correct the LD4 event page to reflect and link to the Enslaved.org standards. I have nothing but admiration for the Enslaved.org project, and I have tried to find the documentation or example that led me to think that "slave" was a value of "occupation" here, and I cannot find it, so I truly apologize for my mistake.
