Congrats

[edit]

I've just discovered Synia and I find it very powerful. Some ideas are very similar with the work I've been doing on {{Item documentation}} with the notion of generic queries. For instance {{Generic queries for actors}} is really similar to Wikidata:Synia:actor. I think both tool are useful. Item documentation is an internal tool. One advantage is that it runs only one query at a time whereas Synia can be a bit slow by running multiple queries at the same time. Synia is an external tool which provides a very useful complement to the standard Wikidata page of an item.

I think that many generic queries that I've developed in my generic queries templates (Category:Generic SPARQL query templates) could be reused in Synia.

Do you think that Synia templates pages could be enriched with more context? For instance it could be useful to add a link to the relevant wikiproject. PAC2 (talk) 21:12, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template Synia

[edit]

I think that it is useful to have a small template to create links to Synia from Wikidata.

I've designed the following template : {{Synia}}.

What do you think? @fnielsen, Daniel Mietchen: PAC2 (talk) 05:56, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've designed another template which guesses the good configuration for each entity {{Synia+}}. PAC2 (talk) 06:21, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New configuration for items

[edit]

I've added the item configuration : Wikidata:Synia:item with three very generic queries for each item. See Synia#item : Mediapart for an example. PAC2 (talk) 21:42, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bug

[edit]

I've encountered a strange bug. If I remove blank spaces in the {{SPARQL}} template, parsing doesn't work. For instance {{SPARQL |query=...}} doesn't work whereas {{SPARQL | query =...}} works perfectly. @fnielsen: PAC2 (talk) 21:45, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

RAW

[edit]

For your information, there is an introduction to Synia in French in the last issue of RAW : (fr) Explorer Wikidata autrement avec Synia in RAW PAC2 (talk) 20:31, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Syntax documentation

[edit]

I'm missing a section on the page that gives me examples inline of how to e.g. add a link to Wikidata for a lexeme. So9q (talk) 17:59, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
