Task/s: Add taxonomic information based on scientific articles
Function details: This bot is designed to ease the task of adding taxonomic information from scientific articles to wikidata:
- The input is the taxonomic hierarchy given by a scientific article, written in Wikipedia syntax (easy to create for humans). Example User:FelixReimann/Pyron2013 for this article.
- A graphical representation allows visual validation of the input
- The bot then adds taxon rank (P105), taxon name (P225), parent taxon (P171) citing the article.
This bot is the only one which adds parent taxon (P171) (see mandatory properties at Wikidata:Taxonomy task force) which is needed to create a connected graph of taxa. Moreover, it is also the only bot which gets taxonomic input from scientific articles and, thus, citable information.
Example edits: [1] [2]. Such edits will remove several constraint violations, e.g., from Constraint_violations/P225 or Constraint_violations/P74. --FelixReimann (talk) 12:42, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The bot will not create any items, but only amend and link existing ones. FelixReimann (talk) 17:40, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Support Very useful job. --Succu (talk) 15:53, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
