Motivation
[edit]This is an important property of a PoS cryptocurrency because it regulates how much investing is necessary to have an influence on voting. This is important because for different PoS systems different amounts of capital is needed for an attacker to take over the network. Such a malicious take-over is believed to have happened recently with Steem, see [1] [2]. In this case the capital was actually already in place in 3 exchanges staked by thousands of users. The colluding of these 3 validators enabled the take-over by a single actor.--So9q (talk) 15:21, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
