Motivation
[edit]Per Help:Sources#Databases, even when there is a property for a specific resource, stated in (P248) should be included with the appropriate item for the resource.
Generally, Wikidata item of this property (P1629) would allow to find that item, but P1629 may include other values not suitable for P248 (e.g. the item for the organization that published the database or an item about type of items that use a property). It's unclear how to sort through all possible values there to ensure the suitable one is present or used (tentative (Add your motivation for this property here.) --- Jura 11:58, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support if Wikidata item of this property (P1629) can't be relied on. Something along these lines would really be useful if we ever get a better way to select an external-id as a reference - with this, the external id value, and the date (for retrieved (P813)) you have a complete and relevant reference just by selecting the external id you are using.
