Robot and gadget jobsRobots could go through current usages of Twitch channel ID (P5797) and fetch the numeric IDs and attach them to the items/statements. It could also be used by robots to patrol Twitch channel statements and check if channel names still match what’s entered here or lookup the new channel name if it doesn’t.

Motivation[edit]

Similar to several other numeric IDs, such as X user numeric ID (P6552), Patreon user numeric ID (P11713), Facebook numeric ID (P11705), etc., this allows for identifying a unique Twitch channel across renames/rebrands.

Unlike other numeric IDs we have properties for it doesn’t seem like Twitch has a way to use the identifier as a link to get to the channel, but for some things in the API it is the only way to access information, and having the ID in Wikidata potentially saves an additional lookup in Twitch’s API… and for cases where a channel has changed name, having to do that account name→id lookup might be impossible.

You also need to go through the API to get the (permanent) numeric id, but there are some sites providing this.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Freso (talk • contribs) at 21:16, 11 December 2023 (UTC).[reply]

Discussion[edit]

A quick search suggests that the numeric ID can be retrieved at least from this or this third-party site. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 05:39, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
