Motivation[edit]
This is an identifier widely used on Wikipedia (see Template:Gale, which has over 1,000 transclusions)... And considering both of it's main competitors (ProQuest and EBSCOhost) have a property for their document IDs, I'm very very shocked there isn't one for Gale already.
Many IDs start with an A, though entries from biographical encyclopedias and some newspapers often start with other letters (K3099050454, BT2310001825, CX2661527336, and CS151729871 are all valid IDs).
