Motivation[edit]
On June 8, 2022 GitHub announced that it will be sun setting the Atom text editor. Because of this I would like to do what I can to preserve the ecosystem of community-made packages that have emerged around Atom over the years. This property would allow us to preserve the names that these packages had in the Atom Package Manager registry and best preserve these packages and themes. Keplersj (talk) 00:21, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
Discussion[edit]
- Support Laftp0 (talk) 04:18, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Is Wikidata really the right place to create a record of detailed technology implementations like this? I'm not sure how Atom packages in themselves really meet our notability criteria, particularly if they are no longer going to be supported?? ArthurPSmith (talk) 13:53, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose I think this is better suited to be done by archive.org or the archive team. we don't have a lot of items for atom packages you had to make all those just for this proposal. BrokenSegue (talk) 04:43, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- How this property be suited in Internet Archive? All data in Internet Archive are just saved and not linked with any other data. Laftp0 (talk) 11:36, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- There are two goals. One is to just back up the data and the other is to structure it. The items created for this property proposal contain no structure beyond what a simple backup would store. So if we're just talking about preserving the data (and now incorporating it into the overall structure) then it sounds like an Internet Archive project not a wikidata project. - Not done, no consensus of proposed property at this time based on the above discussion. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 10:53, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
