Motivation
[edit]SINGULART (Q108907480) is an online art gallery with profiles of contemporary artists, photographs of the artists, digital reproductions of works for sale, and often, statements by the artists about their work. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 00:58, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support for Singulart artist ID. PLEASE, NO PROMOTIONAL SPELLING. --Kolja21 (talk) 01:51, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Comment This is the spelling consistently used throughout this site. It is standard cataloging practice to follow the capitalization found on a resource when it is nonstandard. That is what I have followed for the title of the website as well as the property label. This isn't "promotional", it's simply the form the site consistently uses for its name. Even the HTML header for the site is given as "SINGULART Gallery." Catalogers follow capitalization when there is a clearly expressed preference for one. - Every company wants their name to stand out. Today the company uses "SINGULART" and the next year it might prefer "SINGULart", "singulART" or "Singul*art" (especially radio stations love to be "creative"). That's why Wikipedia don't use capital letters and stick to en:Singulart. --Kolja21 (talk) 05:53, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

- Support for either SINGULART or Singulart. For what it's worth, the all-caps spelling doesn't strike me as being promotional, just an accurate representation of the name as it exists in the world. --Crystal Clements, University of Washington Libraries (talk) 15:53, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- Comment We can use just the numbers as IDs. The [a-z]+[-a-z]* part may be any string. Then the URL would be https://www.singulart.com/en/artist/wd-$1 And the allowed values \d+ --Gerwoman (talk) 19:04, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- I strongly concur with Gerwoman. It's better to use numeric ID here. @UWashPrincipalCataloger: What do you think? Kirilloparma (talk) 01:20, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Kirilloparma: Sure, I can revise it. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 01:29, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
