Hi, I see you keep adding and removing them, then readding, re-removing. What's the plan? I don't really seen an advantage of a data dump linke [1]. Can you put this on hold and explain first? If you prefer, on Wikidata:Project_chat--- Jura 16:12, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jura, I was wondering when someone was gonna notice. I'm actually pretty embarassed, I had the wrong syntax at the start and I just figured out today the correct one.

The actual plan was to have the Statement look like this: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1634263 Vicwestric (talk) 16:22, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The (planned) benefit will be to work up to more specific statements for individual entities and link sources from multiple medieval corpora. This was just a very rocky test run, and I apologize for that.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by ? (talk • contribs).

  • Don't worry too much about that. It's part of figuring out how to do it. It can easily be corrected and seems to have only a marginal impact on other elements.
I think it's a good idea to add Regesta Imperii XIII (Q97879676) in one way or the other.
The question is how. Normally, I think each reference URL would be a separate "reference", e.g. as the 4 for the date of birth at Q276526#P569.
If there were just a few, it wouldn't matter that much.
It seems there are 180,000 regesta, I wonder how much more there would in addition to [2]. --- Jura 16:50, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Normally, just one reference should be sufficient, but I suppose you are trying to index them. I'm not really sure what to suggest. --- Jura 16:57, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for understanding. I think structurally, it was a bad idea to include the cities in this way. It's too much unspecific information. I'll stop that and is probably best to remove the link dumps. Regesta Imperii XIII (Q97879676) represents the reign of Emperor Frederick III., (Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor (Q150966)), i.e. 1452 to 1493, and is the biggest subset of Regesta we have. I was going to add the Regesta for Regesta Imperii VII (Q97883245) (representing Emperor Louis IV.) next, which is a fraction of Fredericks Regesta. I'll hold of the cities there, as well. The final addition will be the Regesta Henry IV of the HRE, for now.
  • We have reworked the registries for these Emperors, which is why we're able to do that in the first place.

We're in talks with the Germania Sacra, to link persons in their indizes with our Regesta. (Germania Sacra (Q1514123)) But I think what I should do now and what I should have done in the first place is to write a proposal for the Wikidata:Project_chat page and get more input.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by ? (talk • contribs).

    • I have to give this some more thought. The general options are (1) link to an index entry for each person (or place, etc.) or (2) create an item for every regesta and link from there. --- Jura 06:50, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Vicwestric, I strongly suggest you stop editing and adding links until we have resolved this situation and found a suitable way to add Regesta Imperii data to WikiData. --Hannes Röst (talk) 15:11, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dear User:Hannes Röst, of course. I agree the situation is not ideal. Vicwestric (talk) 16:44, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Vicwestric[reply]
