I’ve noticed that you changed the description for Alfred Stingl (Q97653918) from music teacher and composer from Austria to Austrian music teacher and composer. Please explain why you wish to deviate from the guidelines set by Help:Description. --Emu (talk) 13:57, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Emu: I have actually never seen those guidelines, but thank you for sharing them. I was following common practice on displayed on countless other Wikidata items, e.g. Franz Schubert (Q7312), Ludwig van Beethoven (Q255), Leonard Bernstein (Q152505), Isaac Albéniz (Q185812), Edvard Grieg (Q80621), which replicates the common editorial practice in established authority sources such as the Grove Dictionary of Music/Grove Music online. Please see Franz Schubert (https://doi.org/10.1093/gmo/9781561592630.article.25109), Ludwig van Beethoven (https://doi.org/10.1093/gmo/9781561592630.article.40026), Leonard Bernstein (https://doi.org/10.1093/gmo/9781561592630.article.A2223796), Isaac Albéniz (https://doi.org/10.1093/gmo/9781561592630.article.00421), and Edvard Grieg (https://doi.org/10.1093/gmo/9781561592630.article.11757). I find it to be more concise and compact.
I would note that the guidelines state "These serve as good starting points, however you should not feel bound to them." Rhudson (talk) 14:39, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
