Hey Mikey641, I created a new property proposal based on your GuideStar Israel Property for India: Wikidata:Property proposal/Organization#GuideStar India Organisations-ID. Since you worked on Israeli nonprofits, would you be interested in amending the Country list in the Wikidata:WikiProject_Nonprofit_Organizations#Identifier_&_Sources? We are especially interested in legal forms of nonprofits, national identifier and if there are infoboxes in Hebrew-Wikipedia for nonprofits using wikidata. Best!

in this edit i had the privilege to undo your bot's edit which connected a school in Tel Aviv with a completely different school in Haifa. i'm wondering why the hewiki page he:תיכון עירוני י"א on the school in Tel Aviv still links to the Commons category on the school in Haifa. (i tried to clear the cache, to no avail). Thanks for your help, ~~~~
Mikey641 (talkcontribs)

This was simply an import from the version at the time. I created a corresponding category on commons and linked it to the item.

Are you adding diplomatic relation (P530) in all cases where there's an article about the interactions between the two countries? The property description says it's for listing countries' diplomatic relations. Your bot has been adding incorrect statements like listing Israel (Q801) and Iraq (Q796) as countries with diplomatic relations with each other.

Mikey641 (talkcontribs)

Yes. That is what I'm doing. I looked in other countries like Iran (Q794) and they also stated Israel. But I can just remove the wrong one's later: Most of the arab world-Israel. China-Taiwan, Kosovo-Serbia...

Mikey641 (talkcontribs)

But if we're removing these, we need to also remove Qatar's relations with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, and Lybia, because those relations were cut off this june

Yair rand (talkcontribs)

Is it generally the case that every country has relations with every country, with just a few exceptions in situations of hostilities?

(Unrelated, but could you give some context to the label edits to S (Q9956) and Georgia (Q230)? Are there likely to be other similar errors?)

Yair rand (talkcontribs)

For cases where diplomatic relations cease, there would be an end date added, the statements wouldn't be removed.

Mikey641 (talkcontribs)

About the S and Georgia. just checked it, and those are the only case, I know why it happened (and it won't happen again)

Well, no it is not generally the case that every country has relations with every country, but If there is an article, it means there is either a conflict or they maintain relations.

About Qatar. OK

Hi,

I noticed you added Q39131224. This is good, but would you attempt to add it to items with a matching native label? It's likely that they all still need to be created.

Q1159023 should only be about the spelling "Guy".

Mikey641 (talkcontribs)

Well this is all a part of a bigger discussion: Do Hebrew names need their own article (ex. גיא) or

merged with Latin names. I tend to support merging Hebrew with Latin names as this is the purpose of wikidata: that for each item the label changes by the users language. The names are really useful for transcripts and if we separate Latin and Hebrew thet will not help with that mission.

I think that the way you pronounce a name is more important than it's writing.

Anyways, the spelling guy is the main one.

Mikey641 (talkcontribs)

Addition: if you think I should create seperate items for Hebrew I would gladly do it. It would make the process so much easier and faster for me. But I want it to be also useful.

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

I think the initial approach had been to keep similar names together, but at some point people realized that we would eventually end up in a dead end, sitelink wise and when using them in P735. So Wikidata:WikiProject Names started splitting them ..

If you make items for names in one script, you can add easily several statements for various possible transcriptions in other scripts.

Japanese names have a few items that are fairly developed, e.g. Q21141521
