Hello, I'm Madamebiblio. I notice that you have blanked an item, either fully or partially, by removing some combination of sitelinks, claims, and labels, or by replacing valid labels with strings such as “DELETE THIS”. It's possible that you did this because you were attempting to delete the item, but I’m afraid that’s not how things work here.

If you want to request deletion of an item, please do so at Wikidata:Requests for deletions. Even once you have done this, you should still not be blanking the item in anticipation of its deletion. There are several important reasons for this:

  • Anyone reviewing the item will want to assess for themselves whether it ought to be deleted. If you have already removed information, then this may make it harder for them to determine correctly whether the item is notable. In particular, a sitelink usually implies that the item is notable, so they need to be reviewed carefully.
  • Your deletion request may be declined. In this case, your removals will need to be reverted.
  • The item may be deleted but subsequently undeleted.
  • The item may be a duplicate of another item. In this case, the two items will be merged using a merge tool, and everything will be copied from one to the other. It is helpful for this merge for the item to retain as much information as possible. Incorrect labels like “DELETE THIS” may end up in the result.
  • Wikidata administrators have access to a special searchable archive of deleted items. This is used, for example, to determine if a newly-created item is a recreation of one that has been created in the past. For this reason, it is helpful if the deleted version of an item is as complete as possible.
  • If we remove a sitelink, but the article remains on the client project, then someone on that client project may end up creating a new item, duplicating the original.

It is also possible that you were blanking an item because you want to repurpose it for another concept. Do not do this! There is no shortage of item numbers, and we never reuse an item for a different concept.

If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks!  Madamebiblio (discusión) 16:19, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Здравствуйте. Вы добавили двум объектам один код Викимапии. Сейчас они всплывают в ошибках. Вы не могли бы удалить лишний? Машъал (talk) 17:22, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

Kholoudsaa (talkcontribs)

Dear Kareyac

I hope you are doing well,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I am working on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender model that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our model based on your previous edits.

Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published in a research venue.

The experiment should take no more than 15 minutes, and it will be held next week.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfA1wfdBfCRlcG3WhDyc-V8lzgPNx3fDFCNXkyn4CSwahXZ_A/viewform?usp=sf_link

Then, I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about my project, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa

In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Hi! As far as I can understand, Pius IX (Q43720) is represented twice:

  • in 15336, with no records; the name seems correctly "Pius 9"
  • in 15335, with one record; the name seems to be wrongly "Pius 6" instead of "Pius 9"

Could you check? Thanks!

Epìdosis (talkcontribs)

Excuse me for reopening, but it seems the problem is still present: Պիոս Թ (Pius IX) is 15336 with 0 records, Պիոս Զ (Pius VI) is 15335 but has connected 1 record (654313) which is clearly by Պիոս Թ. So I think that 654313 should be moved from 15335 to 15336; is it been done and the website will show it with a small delay? Thanks again!

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Thanks for repot!

I wrote a letter to website authorities. I hope they repair wrong link..

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Please, check it.

Hi, I created a new page for collecting sites that could be added to Mix'n'match and I plan to expand it with the ones that already have scrapers by category. Feel free to expand, use for property creation. Best, --Adam Harangozó (talk) 21:17, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

How do I change name of the town stated as place of birth of a person, to reflect how it was called before it was renamed?

Headgo (talkcontribs)

Hello! I am trying to change the birth place of a person Q13054450 (Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan). The thing is that at the time he was born, the town had a slightly different name in Russian "Сумгаит" than nowdays, it was yet in the Soviet time. Later on in 1991 the town was renamed into "Сумгайыт". Since the bishop was born before 1991 the correct way would be to provide the first town name as his place of birth and not the modern one. Could you please explain me, how do I solve this challenge? Thanks in advance.

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Hi!

In the item of town both names should be mentioned with qualifier of start and end of period.

For example have a look at Gyumri (Q199500) - official name (P1448) Александрополь start time 1837 end time 1924.

Infovarius (talkcontribs)

проблема, наверное, в том, что мы не можем указать прежние названия на русском - ибо это не официальный язык места... а на азербайджанском название не менялось

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Hello, I was curious to see how Sandbox-Item (P369) is being used and found this statement by you on բարև (L448) entered already in 2018. From the looks of it I guess it's meant to indicate item for this sense (P5137) which had just been created at that time. Can you confirm this and that it was meant to be replaced with the new property, but for some reason was left with the sandbox property? I can probably do the change (even as I don't know Armenian myself) unless you have some different plans in mind for this lexeme.

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Hi, your proposal to replace is good. Thank you! Now I have no plans to edit lexemmes. Please, do it.

Epìdosis (talkcontribs)

Hi! I've just found here more than 4 thousands author pages in hy.wikisource that need to be connected to Wikidata. I've tried to do this manually with a sample of about 30 pages and I've found 6 duplicates, a high percentage, which I have merged (see my contributions). Probably all these semi-empty author pages have been created by LetterBot in 2018. So, I'm here to ask you if it would be possible, both using bots and manual work:

  • to merge duplicates in hy.wikisource
  • to connect remaining pages to existent Wikidata items or to new items

I can give a little help if needed in some way. Thanks in advance!

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Hi, I'll try to cleanup as soon as possible. And thanks for help offer!

Epìdosis (talkcontribs)

Just to let you know: I've recently written User:Epìdosis/Strategy, about the benefits Wikidata and libraries can reciprocally enjoy from their interconnections, and I'm now trying with @Bargioni: to contact the various libraries whose catalogs have been imported by us to Mix'n'match in order to show them these points and encourage them to improve their catalog (points L) using Wikidata, starting from deduplication of duplicate entries for the same person. If you can establish some contact with the National Library of Armenia, could you inform them of the work we (and especially you!) are doing on Mix'n'match and about the possibility they have of finding duplicates through Wikidata and merge them (point L1) and also enriching their entries through Wikidata (point L2)? Thank you very much in advance and merry Christmas from Italy!

P.S. If there is interest, I and Bargioni are also available for future chats with librarians, in order to answer any question possibly arising; unfortunately, I have to say that we know only Italian and English (or, if they can be useful, some Spanish and French)

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Hi, thanks for creating new properties on Armenia. Here I suggested create MnM catalogue for am.hayazg.info ID (P9511).

Authors namespace in hy.wikisource.org still wrongly shows too big quantity of pages without links to WD.

I help Union Catalog of Armenian Libraries (Q101537013) personnel make data better on their site.

Would you be interested in creating property Writers Union of Armenia (Q8038509) ID ? On their site there are are brief biography and list of works.

Ex. ԱԵԼԻՏԱ ԴՈԼՈՒԽԱՆՅԱՆ for Aelita Doloukhanyan (Q23017331).

hush.am (Q106777822) is grave service. It includes grave image and can be confirmation for birth/death dates. Property can be useful.

Ex. Derenik Demirtchyan for Derenik Demirchian (Q3646436).
Epìdosis (talkcontribs)

Perfect! I have proposed the two properties you suggested, they seem very useful indeed.

Epìdosis (talkcontribs)
Epìdosis (talkcontribs)

The little problem of yesterday has been solved: MnM ready.

Kareyac (talkcontribs)

Properties about Armenia you created are matched as good as possible.

Routine work on them and hy.wikisource is going on.

Would you help by creating MnM for Armeniapedia ID (P9629), please?

Epìdosis (talkcontribs)
Kareyac (talkcontribs)

United catalog seems to be enough. Mobile game and visual interface grinds everyting :)

OK. We will try with Bargioni in the next days.
