Shop chain passes "clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity. The entity must be notable, in the sense that it can be described using serious and publicly available references." ( https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Notability ), so I guess that either entry was missing some mandatory parts.
What are minimal requirements for Wikidata entry describing shop/restaurant/hotel chain?
