Split

[edit]

We have to split 'Republic of China' and 'Taiwan'. Any ideas? -- ChongDae (talk) 05:06, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You mean country and island? This object is about the country, island has its own at Q22502 (there's also "Geography of Taiwan at Q22528). If you spot an interwiki that doesn't fit, you can transfer it manually. — Yerpo Eh? 13:56, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • This item should probably be labeled "Republic of China", as some Wikidata statements won't make sense with it labeled "Taiwan". For example, we wouldn't want to say that the Second Sino-Japanese War was between the Empire of Japan and Taiwan. --Yair rand (talk) 15:13, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Our naming convention says that we use the most common name. Most people know the country as Taiwan and not as Republic of China. As a result Taiwan should be the proper label. ChristianKl (talk) 19:50, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The topic the item is dealing with has spanned multiple "most common names", with only one name shared among the eras, that being the Republic of China. Perhaps there should be three different items covering the topic, "Republic of China", "Taiwan", and "Republic of China" for 1912-1949, with the latter two being just eras/temporal facets and the actual content linking to the former? --Yair rand (talk) 06:37, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Q13426199 also exists for the historical 1912-1949 country. Some Wikipedias split the modern ROC with the historical ROC on the mainland (e.g. enwiki), others don't (e.g. zhwiki). Benlisquare (talk) 14:07, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Google Search uses wrong wikidata-data

[edit]

If somebody types "taiwan" into google the search presents wrong informations ("Taiwan, country in Eastasia") I tried to change it to "island in Eastasia" but the article is protected. In fact, virtually no country recognizes Taiwan as a state. I would therefore like to suggest that the classification of Taiwan in wikidata be adjusted accordingly. The claim that Taiwan is an independent state is politically motivated and simply wrong. Quvai (talk) 13:16, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Island is at Q22502. Here it is unrecognised state. The claim is regarded wrong by some people and right by the other. We (in Wikidata) should show both points of view. --Infovarius (talk) 21:27, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just found the problem today,Taiwan is not a country, is an island, part of China, I suggest the editor to correct the information accordingly. 63.217.83.51 02:55, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite correct, some think and other don't think so. Isn't it the point of limited recognized country?Supaplex (talk) 06:38, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add the phrase "with limited recognition" in the descriptions in each language

[edit]

I think it is necessary to include the phrase "with limited recognition" in the descriptions in each language. The status of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is very complex, and adding such a phrase can help people experience this complex status. ZeehanLin (talk) 14:21, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that's necessary. 桐生ここ (talk) 07:00, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. It's not defining or essential for a major country with a population of 20 million, a top 25 economy and actual diplomatic interactions with most countries. Gohan 08:17, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

請求從國家與主權國家的陳述主體項目移除Q115667697

[edit]
