"Title page" or "Cover page"... ?[edit]

WikiProject Books has more than 50 participants and couldn't be pinged. Please post on the WikiProject's talk page instead.

is it "Title page" or "Cover page"... ? - the label/description is ambiguous, and for a librarian, it is not at all the same...

ex. : on commons:File:Ker_-_Cyril_aux_doigts-rouges_ou_le_Prince_Russe_et_l'Enfant_Tartare,_1917.djvu?uselang=fr, Cover page is page 1 of djvu, while Title page is page 4...

if it is for illustration purpose, cover page is better (it can be illustrated) ; if for referencing, "title" page is better, since cataloguing norms say that you must use the title page to fix the "title", while the title on the "cover" can be abbreviated, or sometimes totally different...

So, which one ? --Hsarrazin (talk) 13:29, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Which part is ambiguous? Is I understood the lengthy discussion, it start out with "cover page", but meaning the title page and that's what user seem to be looking for. "cover page" is sometimes used for title pages, so it could be an alias.

Display thumbnail based on file page (P7668) or title page number (P4714)[edit]

Please see Wikidata:Contact the development team/Archive/2019/12#Page for thumbnail.

Eventually a new request should be made as suggested there by Lea. --- Jura 13:51, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
