So, we've established pretty well the criteria for deleting items. What about other pages, though? And specifically, where should discussions on deleting pages go? My first thought would be a sub-page of WD:RFD, or maybe a different section of it. Also, my thought would be to have discussions take a week and develop clear consensus for deletion, but what should that be? Any other thoughts? Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:37, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's certain stuff that should be deleted immediately: spam, or vandalism, or a user's pages upon request. --Rschen7754 18:39, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'll move over the agreed-upon stuff from the RfC. I'm just not sure about the other deletions which would require discussion. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:41, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicates[edit]

If an item gets deleted as a duplication, we should specify which one gets deleted. The latest? Or the one with more info? I must say I was pissed off at some point when an item I created in the first day and which had an ID below 1000 got deleted in favor of a much later item, and the admin did not even react to my objections.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:11, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While I don't think it matter that much, we could add a specification of deleting the lower number. In some cases, it is easier to merge the links into the higher one because that makes less work, but I'd be OK with doing a little bit of extra work to use the lower number. Revision deletion[edit]

I'd also like to be able to hide what gets hidden on Wikipedia as grossly insulting/offensive material or purely disruptive material (such as browser-crashing HTML). I don't see this explicitly covered under the page as it is at the moment.--Jasper Deng (talk) 20:44, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned discussions[edit]

I propose to explicitely add allowance of deletion of orphaned discussions (aka if the subject page is deleted) unless they contain significantly useful / helpful stuff for future use. In general there is no need to keep them and clutter the project by that, unless the exception mentioned above.

When they do contain useful material, how is anyone going to find them? It's not like a Wikipedia, where articles could be recreated with the same name. Should we have a page of links to potentially useful orphaned discussions? --Avenue (talk) 18:25, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting items about non-notable, living people, by their own request[edit]

I would like to open a discussion about the possibility to delete an item about a living person, if the person described in the item personally requests the deletion. I think this is a reasonable and actionable request:

  • even if the person is notable according to our notability criterion #2;
  • BUT the person's item is otherwise NOT linked to another item on Wikidata or any Wikimedia project (notability criteria #3 and #1);
  • and, as said above, the person her/himself requests deletion about the item about her/himself, perhaps because of privacy concerns, but other personal reasons might be valid too.

One single precedent for this (for now) has been Marie-Pierre Vidonne (Q33820187). I personally support this, as I think this is a humane stance. I'd like to hear what other think. Spinster 💬 19:18, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How to propose an item for a deletion or speedy?[edit]

Thats my question, I have accidently created a dupicate. Budovy Sdružení projektových ateliérů (Q68286237)  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Juandev (talk • contribs) at 23. 9. 2019, 09:17‎ (UTC).

You can request a deletion at Wikidata:Properties for deletion (for properties) or at Wikidata:Requests for deletions (for other pages). (gadget) --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 15:15, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, Ive tried to switch that gadget and I dont see any bottom, how it works? --Juandev (talk) 19:11, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This page is hard to find[edit]

I always have a hard time finding this page and associated pages when I want to request the deletion of a page. I couldn't find it in Wikidata:Help, for instance, or by searching for "Deletion". Fa suisse (talk) 17:18, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
