Wikidata talk:WikiProject BHL
Catalogues[edit]
The BHL includes a collection of examples of almost 40,000 seed and nursery catalogues.
I haven't been entirely sure how to represent items of these kinds in Wikidata, so I have created the following classes:
- edition of commercial catalogue (Q55089312) -- 8231 instances
- commercial catalogue series (Q55089306) -- 432 instances
- Index Seminum (Q55093334) -- 40 instances
the first being a subclass of version, edition or translation (Q3331189) and containing cases where the BHL title only contains a single BHL item, the other two being subclasses of periodical (Q1002697), where the BHL has more than one item under the particular title.
I am not 100% sure that this is right: Are these periodicals? Are they works? An 'edition' would normally be a version of a work, not a periodical. On the other hand, they appear with regular frequency, similar to a periodical. But then the content (or at least much of the content) is (often) very similar, from iteration to iteration -- more like an edition of a single work, than an instance of a series of works.
That's how I've left it for the moment. However, I have no particularly strong attachment to either the naming of the items, or the relationships on them, if anyone has better ideas for them. Jheald (talk) 09:45, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
