Delay for the deployment of Cognate extension

Hello,

As some of you have noticed, we currently run a certain delay for the deployment of Cognate extension, that will allow automatic interwiki links on the Wiktionaries.

The test phase of the extension is longer than expected. We're currently making sure that the previous extension we deployed, InterwikiSorting, and Cognate will work correctly together. As this deployment is the first step of the Wikidata4Wiktionary project, we're really careful about providing an efficient and bug-free solution.

If you're interested for more technical information, here are the related tickets on Phabricator: phab:T150183, phab:T150182

I'll keep you updated, thanks for your patience! Lea Lacroix (WMDE) (talk) 10:25, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Has the necessity to retrieve automatically the interwiki links via the API been taken into account by developers of the Cognate extension? If not, please consider reporting this need to developers. Automatik (talk) 23:24, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Automatik: here is a reply to this question. I do know whether this is ok for you. Pamputt (talk) 08:51, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently, there should be a way to retrieve interwiki links via the Tool Labs, from what I understand. That's a good point. On the other hand, it's a pity we lose the old way to retrieve interwiki links via the API (remark: on Wikipedia, it is still possible to retrieve interwiki links via the API (example). Documentation and examples for the Lexeme data model

Hello all,

The development team is currently working on building the database structure for lexicographical data. We would like to show you results as soon as possible, so you can understand and react on what we are doing.

You will find several documents that will help you understand the data model of Lexemes, Forms and Senses:

If you have any question, feedbacks, you can leave a comment here!

Note: this documentation is translatable. I'll soon start the translation in French, if you want to help, feel free to translate in your own language.

Thanks for your interest in lexicographical data, Lea Lacroix (WMDE) (talk) 15:11, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good! Regarding the editorial note asking "Do we need free text usage notes?", I would argue (as I argued earlier) that that would be quite clearly not structured data, and trying to add that to Wikidata would be equivalent to having a property for "Wikipedia article intro paragraph". Wikidata's scope needs clear boundaries. --Yair rand (talk) 22:27, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
