Set up project participation

Add yourself as a participant

While logged in to your Wikidata account, enter four tildas (~~~~) on the participants page to automatically add yourself to the list. Edit the participants page.

Activate metrics

Log in to XTools with your Wikidata account information to enable tracking of your contributions to Wikidata. As a member of the project, you will also be added to the group metrics tracker. Please contact Arcadialib if you do not wish to be included.

Configure account

To customize Wikidata account settings, go to the Preferences page while logged in.

User profile

Set your language and pronoun preferences, manage linked tools, and configure email settings.

Appearance

Set your time zone to America/Los Angeles (or another time zone if appropriate).

Gadgets

Gadgets are plug-ins to enhance Wikidata display and editing. Some useful gadgets to enable:

• Merge: Easily merge duplicate items.
• Descriptions: Hover over items and properties to see the label.
• Site ID to interwiki: Streamline display of interwiki links.
• Protection indicators: See when an entity is protected from editing.
• EasyQuery: Add a shortcut (displayed as three dots next to a statement value) that runs a query for any other items to which that statement applies.
• currentDate: Automatically adds the current date when entering when a reference was retrieved.
• Recoin: Displays an icon at the top of the page representing the relative completeness of the item's information, and adds a dropdown list of the most relevant properties not present in the item description.
• QuickEditCounter: Add a counter with the total number of edits you have made to your Contributions page.
• Redirect image links to Commons for files that are hosted there.
