Note, when establishing publishers that are not actually a part of our project, i.e. adding a parent or division to when you're working on an imprint, you may create a brief record in Wikidata. A brief level record should include: Label, Description, Instance of, Subsidiary/Parent Organization, and if applicable, the Library of Congress Authority.
- There are some instances of people as publishers within SDSU's catalog. Per the definition of the publisher property P123 a publisher is either a person or organization. With this in mind, we will might be listing some individuals as publishers. If the person in question established a company, such as A. S. Barnes and A. S. Barnes & Company we will establish/enhance the record for the company. If we cannot find any evidence that a company or corporation was created, we will note that the person has also acted as a publisher via occupation publisher.
- On January 23, there was an attempt to clarify the discussion around publishers as organizations and individuals. Quoted from the talk page "I have now created publisher Q105044823 that should entail both an individual publishing (e.g., self-publishers, bloggers, tweeters) and legal organizations (publishing houses). I have moved some properties to that entity and made publisher Q2085381 a subclass of publisher Q105044823." This is an ongoing discussion and we're closing watching the various talk pages for further input and changes
