Application profile: Names in NU Archives[edit]
- Suggestions for populating items for names related to NU Archives are below.
- Some MARC Authority Record references are included below--they're only rough approximations.
- Please prioritize the data in the items listed below with what's used in LC/NAF records currently: MARC 046 for birth/death dates, MARC 100/400 for form of name & aliases, MARC 3XXs for associated places, field of work, and occupation.
- Freely edit the application profile below as you'd like--especially change the examples to something NU-specific.
Resources[edit]
- NU finding aids themselves. Each item should have a link to the corresponding finding aid. They're rich in biographical information. Use the citation format [reference URL]<URL>[date retrieved]<date>. That citation is already in many records, so just use the "copy ref" function.
- Ancestry.com: NU Proquest Library edition. Many of the names in NU Archives are from the 19th and 20th century so they appear in Ancestry.com. Citation: [stated in]<Ancestry>[reference URL]<URL>[date retrieved]<date>
- SNAC. Can be used as a reference, and see use in property below.
