Application profile: Corporate names

[edit]
  • Suggestions for populating items for corporate names, focused on Columbia/Northwestern University-related bodies
  • Corporate body name changes: there's no strong consensus in Wikidata on linking related corporate bodies. Practice varies across institutions, and there's no set PCC practice.
  • A minor name change or variant can be added as an alias (Northwestern University Library, Northwestern University Libraries)
  • Otherwise, use:
    • follows (P155) / followed by (P156) : "if the previous item was not replaced or predecessor and successor are identical"
    • replaces (P1365) / replaced by (P1365) : linear name change, merger or split
    • when possible, use official name (P1448) with starting and end dates
