    • Topic: Adding references to Wikidata for #1Lib1Ref
    • Usual focus of #1Lib1Ref has been in Wikipedia but there’s been work to do it for WikiData as well for purposes of data quality.
  • OpenRefine survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd-Z00h433Y0pIutYyeW98C0Yss6p7RFisVIkkM8uxUtEpmRw/viewform
    • What features would you like to see by default?
    • Requests for options/tools that OpenRefine could add or tools you enjoy think they should could keep.
  • Updates on Wikidata/Wikibase development plans for 2020
    • https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Development_plan
    • Tainted references: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Mismatched_reference_notification_input - a new notification to remind users to update a reference when they’ve updated an item/statement on WikiData.
    • Wikidata Bridge: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Vct71iey9c81rm6l
    • Wikidata’s 8th birthday: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Eighth_Birthday - funding available for programming around WikiData’s 8th Birthday - no conference this year (as it is every other)
    • During busy hours may need to retry if it’s not working the first time when using OpenRefine/other tools.
    • WikiData Deutschland is interested in working with organizations that make their Data public and what errors/data corrections they find and how they’re fixing it - what they can do to help fix. - Get with Hilary and she can put you in touch.
    • Also considering using schema to automatically add references to statements - focus is on data quality.  They want to improve item quality scores in WikiData.  Quality of items, how complete they are - trying to get a better idea of how to improve quality/measurements of quality.
    • Trying to build a means to easier query WikiData (outside of/easier than SPARQL)
    • They’re also interested in hearing about complaints with WikiData - items they can improve on the website/interface - get with hilary and she can put you in touch.
    • Continuing to work on documentation for WikiBase.
  • How labels and aliases are handled for organization name changes, pseudonyms (slides)
    • If an organization changes its name and it’s simple - add as an Alias or with Official name with start and end times of the name use & preferred rank (triangle pointing up to the left of the name) If it has an abbreviated name as well will want to adjust there as well.
    • Split or merger - separate pages should be maintained as separate  i.e. the before should have “replaced by”(P1366) and after should have “replaces” (P1365)
    • Can add aliases in the “also known as” section in the description box or a Pseudonym property (P742) - there isn’t a hard and fast rule about which one to use. Sometimes Pseudonyms can have their own items. And these should be listed as Pseudonym on the user’s item.
    • For a book by an author under a Pseudonym, under the “author” value you can add “named as” and link to their Pseudonym’s statement
