Motivation

[edit]

In the realm of texts, the TLA differentiates between three concepts:

  • textual artifacts/objects (Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae object ID (P12185)), potentially containing more than one text (e.g., Papyrus Prisse)
  • abstract textual works (Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae textual work ID (P12186)), potentially witnessed in different copies/versions (e.g., (i) The Teachings of Ptahhotep, (ii) The Teachings for Kagemni)
  • concrete written texts, potentially copies/versions of an abstract textual work (e.g., (i) the copy/version of The Teachings of Ptahhotep on Papyrus Prisse, (ii) the copy/version of The Teachings for Kagemni on Papyrus Prisse).

This proposal concerns the third concept (concrete written instances of texts), as represented in the Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae. --Dwer (talk) 14:21, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
