moisture absorption[edit]

Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Natural science

Descriptionquantity of moisture a material would absorb in given conditions.
Representsmaterial (Q214609) > mechanical property (Q5725005) > moisture (Q217651)
Data typeQuantity
Template parameterThis proprety request is part of the project of creating an infobox for materials.
DomainPhysical and mechanical property of some Materials like Nylon.
Allowed valuesAny number. Qualifiers : temperature (P2076) (shall be mandatory), under pressure (P2077), determination method (P459).
Allowed units%, ppm
Example 1nylon 6 (Q109454) → 2,7% determination method (P459) → equilibrium at 50% RH, 9,5% determination method (P459) → Saturation in water / temperature (P2076) → 23°C / under pressure (P2077) → 1 bar
Example 2nylon 66 (Q7071155) → 2,5..3,1% determination method (P459) → equilibrium at 50% RH, 8..9% determination method (P459) → Saturation in water / temperature (P2076) → 23°C / under pressure (P2077) → 1 bar

Planned useCreating an infobox for materials

Motivation

This proprety request is part of the project of creating an infobox for materials. The moisture absorbtion is also a necessary qualifier for mechanical propreties of some polymers like Nylon. Exemple of a PA6 datasheet.

Discussion

Proposal is to validate Moisture absorbtion and to close Water absorbtion request. "Water absorbtion" will then be added as an alias to Moisture absorbtion (Pxxx). Moisture absorbing materials are generally not used underwater so that it would generally be searched under this label. Thibdx (talk) 21:02, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
