The Burke Herbarium Image Collection brings together 73,935 photographs and contributions from numerous photographers and botanists on the vascular plants, macrofungi, and lichenized fungi of Washington State. The collection contains 3,115 vascular plant species with photos, 1,005 macrofungi species with photos, 216 lichenized fungi species with photos and a total of 68,630 vascular plant photos, 4,264 macrofungi photos, and 599 lichenized fungi photos. Photographs are accompanied by distribution maps, species descriptions, synonymy, and links to additional resources. Including this resource in Wikidata will provide access to all of this information. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 19:05, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
Discussion[edit]
From a herbarium like University of Washington Herbarium (Q106140800) I would expect herbarium sheets not photographs. --Succu (talk) 19:20, 26 March 2021 (UTC) BTW: Why is University of Washington Herbarium (Q106140800) different from Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture (Q388376)? Is there more than on herbarium collection? --Succu (talk) 19:31, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Succu: This particular web collection is of photographs, along with distribution maps, and other information. I can't comment on the question about herbarium sheets, but I don't see how it is relevant to this proposal and its usefulness. The University of Washington Herbarium is just one part of the Burke Museum, which includes many other natural history collections (fishes, birds, mammals, insects, etc.) as well as anthropological and cultural collections. UW Herbarium and Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture are not synonymous. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 20:44, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Are we talking about WTU Herbarium Database with 436,346 records? --Succu (talk) 20:57, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- That's a separate database that could have a property of its own I suppose. The Image Collection is just photographs of plants, not the catalog of the WTU Herbarium. WTU Herbarium and University of Washington Herbarium are two names for the same thing. The herbarium is just a part of the Burke Museum. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 03:01, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

- Support, an important property for plants.--Arbnos (talk) 14:49, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose: The whole set of related property proposals makes no sense to me. --Succu (talk) 20:36, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
