Motivation

To model scientific events we have a number of properties in use. I cannot find properties suitable to represent the number of paper submissions nor number of accepted papers. •  Support Sure - are we limiting this to conferences (journals get submissions too but I'm not sure how you would count them since it's sort of continual)? ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

• I suppose it is most relevant for conferences and workshops. For journals the number is probably not available. If available it would be over a period, e.g., year. •  Comment If the property is not constrained to single events, then the handling for journals must be made explicit, e.g. "(for journals, number is per year)" in the description. Also a reference constraint is probably advisable. Swpb (talk) 20:28, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

@Fnielsen: So you would be relying on the precision of the point in time (P585) value (year, month, etc.) to infer the length of time of the submission window? When at the same time, point in time (P585) is being used to qualify the, well, point in time at which the statement value is correct? That's very squirrely to me. If anything, I'd use duration (P2047), but I still think that requires some explanation with, at least, Wikidata usage instructions (P2559). Swpb (talk) 15:59, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
