❓ Questions and discussions
Fuzheado2: Making wikiproject pages more visible is a great idea
Fuzheado2: Maybe linking to them more systematically from item talk pages
m.alten.tue: It looks like the project Kat made for me, to improve the usability of the ShEx validator, fits well with 'makng schemas more useful' being at the top of your list
Manuel: When you said one can participate in the research, what did you mean? As a participant or as a researcher or both? xD
We're mainly taking/involving people as participant, but if there is other opportunities, let's talk
Idea: If wikiprojects have items, we can dogfood by reusing the data from the items when highlighting them 😃
Nicolas Vigneron: I'm very eager to see what next, especially around tools (making them efficient and usable is quite a challenge)
Jona: Especially for "instance of" statements it would be great to make it easier to see some kind of parent/child relationships. Quite often it is not easy to find out the necessity to add another category higher up.
Andrea Westerinen: Can you give an example?
Jona: Lets say a property is an instance of "conservation organization" it would be great to easily find out if "conservation organization" is part of "non-profit-organization" and "organisation"...
TuukkaH: @Jona, agree, this can be useful e.g. to figure out whether a new item is needed, what its class should be etc.
Andrea Westerinen: So, you mean the subclass tree, not whether a specific instance of conservation org is part of a larger non-profit
Nicolas Vigneron: this could be also useful to disambiguate similar or close label (like I want "opera" the subclass of building and not "opera" the subclass of organisation)
Nicolas Vigneron: @Andrea: just the direct superclass (not the whole tree) would be already useful
Jona: (The other question is another problem to solve. Especially in the nonprofit field, where there are no typical shares but quite often networks. Like "WWF Germany" is only "part of" "WWF International"...)
Nikki: I think making the derived statements script have the ability to show the inverse statements of a single property (and showing it next to the property in question) would be useful, rather than it fetching a limited number of statements across all properties and showing them at the bottom
jshieh: Looking forward to EntitySchema. Hoping when it is implemented-- it will help addressing issues from the existing ambiguous concepts? As Lydia shared on embassy, an item with "instance of" applying to concept and physical representation of that concept.
Antoine2711: @Sandra, Schemas in OpenRefine would be great!
Sandra F: @Antoine2711 I agree, but Antonin investigated and said it would not really fit the purpose there (that discussion is online somewhere) 😦
TuukkaH: Another example where it would be nice to see the superclasses directly: to know whether Q464980 "exhibition" is a subclass of Q1656682 "event" or not (it's deprecated); whereas the new Q29023906 "temporary exhibition" *is* a subclass of Q1656682 "event"
