Stop

[edit]

Hello, please stop immediately what you are doing. The property about characters should be used with a limited number of values. When the number is too important, we use queries to track the entries which links there (property present in work (P1441). Thank you. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 00:45, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, we don't need to stock all the information on the item (and make it too heavy to charge properly on most internet connexions) when the information can be stocked on all the others items. More than two hundred characters are listed as present in the Harry Potter book series right now, we certainly don't need them all listed on the item itself when the information is already available with a simple query. On reasonator, you can see them in the "From related items" section. We can filter it with simple queries: https://tools.wmflabs.org/autolist/?language=en&wdq=claim[31%3A%28TREE[95074][][279]%29]%20and%20claim[1441%3A8337] The information is already on Wikidata. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 01:44, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Autolist isn't SPARQL. It will try to display labels based on the language code at the top of the page (the same one which is used when you are crossing with a category). It depend also on the time of your query, if it's taking too long, labels won't be displayed. If you want to use SPARQL and to force the display of the labels you can use [1]. And please let me a message on my user talkpage or here, and not by email. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 19:51, 11 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

When I run that query, it does create a label column, but the column does not populate with the character names. Instead it remains empty.

Link to your query? because it works for me. I see the labels and not the Qid. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 23:26, 11 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Here it is: https://query.wikidata.org/#SELECT%20DISTINCT%20%3Fitem%20%3Flabel%20WHERE%20%0A%7B%3Fitem%20wdt%3AP31%20%3Fsub1%20.%20%0A%20%3Fsub1%20(wdt%3AP279%7Cwdt%3AP131)*%20wd%3AQ95074%20.%20%0A%20%3Fitem%20wdt%3AP1080%20%3Fsub2%20.%20%0A%20%3Fsub2%20(wdt%3AP279%7Cwdt%3AP131)*%20wd%3AQ5410773%7D

Well, you didn't ask for the label to be displayed in your query, so logically, it won't be… https://query.wikidata.org/#PREFIX%20wd%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.org%2Fentity%2F%3E%0APREFIX%20wdt%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.org%2Fprop%2Fdirect%2F%3E%0APREFIX%20wikibase%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwikiba.se%2Fontology%23%3E%0APREFIX%20p%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.org%2Fprop%2F%3E%0APREFIX%20ps%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.org%2Fprop%2Fstatement%2F%3E%0APREFIX%20pq%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.org%2Fprop%2Fqualifier%2F%3E%0APREFIX%20rdfs%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2F01%2Frdf-schema%23%3E%0A%0ASELECT%20DISTINCT%20%3Fitem%20%3FitemLabel%0AWHERE%20{%0A%20%20{%3Fitem%20wdt%3AP31%20%3Fsub1%20.%20%0A%20%3Fsub1%20%28wdt%3AP279%7Cwdt%3AP131%29*%20wd%3AQ95074%20.%20%0A%20%3Fitem%20wdt%3AP1080%20%3Fsub2%20.%20%0A%20%3Fsub2%20%28wdt%3AP279%7Cwdt%3AP131%29*%20wd%3AQ5410773%20}%0A%20%20SERVICE%20wikibase%3Alabel%20{%0A%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20bd%3AserviceParam%20wikibase%3Alanguage%20%22fr%2Cen%22%20.%20}%0A} this one will work. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 02:17, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
