Templates[edit]

Hello, please do not confuse item about templates and about football teams (as you did in Q109383438). Horcrux (talk) 19:25, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, the navigation bar in the German-language Wikipedia is not listed there, but gets its data from Wikidata. Therefore, the data here are required., German Template Nordprinz (talk) 19:33, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Horcrux:Why is it possible the squad in Kader von Royal Antwerpen Q98406549 and not in Kader von Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (Q109383438) and not in Vorlage:Navigationsleiste Kader von Stade Reims (Q6542179). All three templates are need for the German-language Wikipedia. Nordprinz (talk) 02:00, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Yellowcard: Zur Info.
Freundl. Grüsse Nordprinz (talk) 14:11, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the data concerning the team must be present in the team's item, not in the template's one. You can link the two items using properties topic's main template (P1424) and template has topic (P1423), respectively.
All the current properties in Q109383438 and Q6542179 different from P31, P641 and P1423 must be removed. --Horcrux (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Property reference URL (P854) should be used as reference, not as main statement. Use instead official website (P856) or described at URL (P973), depending on which webpage you want to indicate.

@Horcrux:Okay, I see. I have corretec Kader von Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (Q109383438).
Vorlage:Navigationsleiste Kader von Stade Reims (Q6542179) will follow tomorrow. Nordprinz (talk) 20:41, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Horcrux: Stade Reims is done. However, there are nine other navigation bars in the German-language Wikipedia that get their data from Wikidata. I will review them in the same spirit over the next few days. Nordprinz (talk) 14:11, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thank you for your collaboration. Anyway, I would like to make some consideration:

  1. To me it seems quite strange to add players in the club's item using the has part(s) (P527) property, since a sports club is something more complex than just a set of players.
  2. At the same time, I find unusual to have two items, one for the club and another one for the team, and linking them by a "team–part of (P361)–club" statement.

I'm not really a football expert, so I think you should ask at Wikidata talk:WikiProject Association football if there already exists a standard for specifying squad's members on Wikidata.

If such a standard doesn't exist already, I'd propose two (alternative) solutions:

  1. Add squad's members in the club's item using a new property, as "club has player" (like for movies we use the ad-hoc property cast member (P161)), which would be the inverse property of member of sports team (P54).
  2. Add squad's members in the item of every season (I assume that for each season there is a fixed and static set of members). In your case, an example item would be 2022–23 Royale Union Saint-Gilloise season (Q112624803). Also in this case we would need an ad-hoc property, as "players for this season".

I think the second solution would be the best one since it also allows to collect historical data and not only the up-to-date one.

Let me know if I can help you in some way. --Horcrux (talk) 15:15, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
