Empty scientist items

[edit]

Hey Neferkheperre, there are a couple of items about scientists you have created recently, but they are unfortunately almost empty except for English labels and descriptions (example: Q40491405). Could you please add further data in order to make those items compliant with the notability criteria? If you need help with that, feel free to ask me here on this page (I’ll watch it for a while). Thanks and regards, MisterSynergy (talk) 08:51, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Neferkheperre, you can automatically add a link to Wikispecies when creating a new item by following the link "Add links" in the bottom left-hand corner of the Wikispecies page you created. I take the opportunity to thank you for your contributions! Best regards, Korg (talk) 15:04, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Neferkheperre: Just to follow up on this, it would be really useful even if you could just add instance of (P31) View with SQID human (Q5) just so that we know that these are people (and can find them easily using a query). I'm keen to have as many taxonomists as possible in Wikidata, linked to their identifiers, publications, and taxa, so it's great that you're adding these people to Wikidata. It would be even better if they could be fleshed out just a tiny bit more. --Rdmpage (talk) 05:57, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I would like to endorse Rdmpage's point. Just adding the statement they suggested to the items would help other users a lot to fill in the other missing information. Many tools query items with this statement to identify work to do, while items without any statements would just get on the big backlog of items where no-one really knows what they are most of the time, so it would take ages to find items like you created. For now, I used an intersection of a maintenance category on Wikispecies and the category of scientists to fill in this statement for over 2000 items. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 09:27, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, do items Q47133434 and Q58425353 describe one person or two different? Gumruch (talk) 14:53, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Probably they are. Going into the one Wikispecies entry, one is from univ. of Poznan. The other entry without Wikispecies link also lists Univ. of Poznan. Neferkheperre (talk) 15:32, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"wikispecies disambiguation page"

[edit]

Hello, "Wikispecies" should be capitalised. I can fix it, but more importantly: Should there be a separate Wikidata item to use with instance of (P31) on the items you created? Are Wikispecies disambiguation pages sometimes merged with the corresponding Wikipedia ones? If yes, I think the description should be a simple "Wikimedia disambiguation page" as usual. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 17:02, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have no information on merging disambig pages between wikis. I would suppose in case of commonality of information, merging would be performed. Wikimedia might be a better term, as Wikidata takes in from all other wikis, and Wikispecies is highly specialized. I shall adjust. Neferkheperre (talk) 17:44, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I added instance of (P31)Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410) to the items. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 16:14, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
