You are welcome. I'm happy to help. Regarding bots, I'll have a look tomorrow, however in WD:Project chat it's been agreed that bots should stop creating items for a while, so I'm not sure we should be flagging those for now. Regards. — MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:40, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Languages

Hi :)

I noticed that you did https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T196473 by adding the language code to Names.php and adding an empty translation file. Is there a reason you did that instead of adding it to wmgExtraLanguageNames in https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wikimedia/operations-mediawiki-config/master/wmf-config/InitialiseSettings.php? If that language can be added to Names.php without a translation because Wikidata wants it for labels, could the other language codes from wmgExtraLanguageNames be added to Names.php? Then the separate list wouldn't be needed.

Hi Nikki. Thanks for your message. When shy-Latn got its first i18n export, a request to add such file was created, so I actioned it. Currently whenever a new language gets its first set of mediawiki/core exports from translatewiki.net we're adding a Messages___.php file so it becomes recognized by MediaWiki as an interface language, etc. In the past empty files were not added, but this has caused issues such as these ones which are kinda annoying to fix. I have not taken a look at $wmgExtraLanguageNames to be honest. I'd say that if they have mediawiki/core translations it'd be okay to add the relevant Messages___.php file. However I think a better answer can be provided by Raymond, Nikerabbit or Amire80. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:11, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
