Oblast[edit]

Would you please stop replacing Oblast with Region and make pointless edits in the items on Russian localities. Thank you for understanding.--Ymblanter (talk) 12:34, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since you continued without addressing this message, I blocked your account for 24h--Ymblanter (talk) 12:43, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ymblanter, I am sorry if my changes bothered you. First, I couldn't answer immediately because of a meeting during your first message. Second, my argument against "Oblast" is that this is a specific type of administrative division and regions (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblast). I understood Wikidata as a place to use wider descriptions than those used in several countries. Third, my changes in Russian localities followed clear lines: 1)type (town, village etc.), 2) function of (e.g. administrative center of a district), 3) location in district, 4) location in Oblast, 5) location in Russia Kind regards, AprennAprenn (talk) 13:35, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I only blocked you because you continued editing, apparently, your meeting was not an obstacle. Concerning oblast, I do not understand your argument. Moscow Oblast is a valid English name and is used in the English Wikipedia as such. (Note that it is for examply Rylsky District, not Rylsk district).--Ymblanter (talk) 13:46, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ymblanter, I do understand your arguments concerning the Oblast and Rylsky question and will check my changes. Regards, Aprenn (talk) 13:50, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I am unblocking.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:02, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
