Hi! I am writing to propose an update for your Wikidata bot in response to the extension of the copyright protection period in Japan to 70 years after an author's death, effective from December 30, 2018.
Please consider updating your bot's algorithm as follows:
- For Japanese authors whose 死亡年月日 (P570) is on or after January 1, 1968, include in the qualifier 管轄・適用区域 (P1001) under the property 作者の著作権状態 (P7763) the value 著作権保護期間が死後70年の国 (Q73560261), and add 没後70年未満 (Q96095416) under 推測に基づく (P887).
- For living Japanese authors (those without a 死亡年月日 (P570)), similarly include in the qualifier 管轄・適用区域 (P1001) under 作者の著作権状態 (P7763) the value 著作権保護期間が死後70年の国 (Q73560261), and add 著作者が存命 (Q63860166) under 推測に基づく (P887).
Additionally, it is important to note that the copyright protection period remains 50 years for Japanese authors who passed away on December 31, 1967, or earlier.
