Le Professeur Buneman est là avec moi actuellement. Nous assistons à un Wikidata editathon. Le professeur m'a dit qu'il n'a jamais eu la nationalité américaine, et il me semble qu'il a été très étonné de se voir décrit ainsi incorrectement. Vous avez agis sans doute de bonne foi, mais il n'est pas suffisant de deviner la nationalité d'une personne en se référant au lieu de travail. Je crois que vous risquez d'offenser profondément beaucoup de personnes si vous continuez à publier des fausses affirmations de nationalité. Et vous risquez aussi d'entrainer de problèmes légaux pour Wikimédia.

Ce modification parait être fait par un bot. Je dirais plutôt d'ajouter une qualification auprès de tels faits afin d'indiquer qu'ils soit générés automatiquement et pourraient être faux, indiquer la confiance entre eux et ainsi de suite.

I didn't guess nationality of Peter Buneman by its place of work, I used a source stating that he is American (the page is about Peter Buneman, not about his place of work). The source can be wrong (and for Peter Buneman, I now believe it's the case). When a statement is wrong, you shouldn't remove it if it has a reference, but:

• Use deprecated rank for the wrong statement. It shows to everyone that the statement (and the source) is wrong and must not be used.
• Add a statement with the genuine value, with one or more references (it should be easy to find for Peter Buneman).
• Get in touch with the source to correct it (in your case, there is a link Signaler une erreur sur cette notice on the right of the page).

Wikidata is a collaborative database, made by humans (and robots as GunUrrainn guessed), so it can contain errors and most of the editors are eager to correct them. You should assume good faith from other editors and avoid legal threats on Wikimedia projects.

Thanks for your message, it is the right way to do when you find a problem. You can write in English (even if your French is excellent!), it's the language used in most discussions in Wikidata. Don't hesitate to ask me questions if you have any on Wikidata.
