Hey, just curious, is it appropriate for the category here to be "medical term"? I've seen acknowledgments of it being a neologism, but given that Lisa Littman (the author of the only studies published on the topic) noted that it is "not a formal mental health diagnosis at this time" and that no major medical association or professional association acknowledges it currently, I think it should be placed in another category. I'm up for discussion on where would be appropriate if anyone has any ideas! Thanks so much! – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Superraptor123 (talk • contribs) at 20 September 2020 (UTC).

@Superraptor123: agreed but I don't know how else to categorize it. It is a term and it is medically related. we could mark is as dubious. What do we do for discredited medical terms? BrokenSegue (talk) 03:29, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@BrokenSegue: that's a great question... the Wikipedia categories for medical controversies may be more appropriate but Wikidata doesn't have a "medical controversy" entry yet so one would have to be created and populated. We could also just use "controversy" (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1255828) for the time being. Personally, in the Gender, Sex, and Sexual Orientation (GSSO) ontology (which is my ontology so I'm definitely a bit biased here) I include it under the entity "transgender as a social contagion" which is an instance in the class "misconceptions about transgender people" (including things like "butch flight" and the "predatory trans woman myth"). However that may not be appropriate given Wikidata's layout.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Superraptor123 (talk • contribs) at 20 September 2020 (UTC).
