BONN, April 24—Hans Walter Zech‐Nenntwich, a fugitive war criminal who was to serve a four‐year term at hard labor, has made his way into Switzerland and is still at large, West German and Swiss authorities disclosed today. The police at Brunswick also announced that they had arrested a prison warder who confessed to having helped the former SS (Elite Guard) lieutenant escape from his cell Wednesday night. The police identified the warder as Dietrich Zeemann and said he had met ZechNenntwich in 1936 in a Nazi labor service camp. Zeemann, who is 47 years old, unlocked six prison doors for his old comrade. The fact that ZechNenntwich was picked up outside the Brunswick prison by a waiting car indicates that more persons knew about his escape plan.Zech‐Nenntwich, who served in an SS cavalry unit that shot 5,200 Jews near Pinsk in Byelorussia during World War II, was convicted Monday of complicity in the murder of two Jews. He was sent to the Brunswick prison pending ap peal of the sentence by his attorney. (English)
