Hi. Thanks for all the work done on this subject. I had a few questions and I thought you might be able to help. First of all, how would you structure the information related to grape varieties? I'm thinking of doing a map of where grape varieties grow. For instance, I wanted to identify winemakers producing a certain grape variety. Do you think this is possible under the current classification? Many thanks Teffubud

Hi everyone, I was wondering whether there was a suitable property to indicate the grape variety(ies) used / authorized for a specific wine / designation of origin. Indeed, the only property associated with grape variety (Q958314) is VIVC grape variety ID (P3904) which is an identifier for a grape variety.

I would love to be able to query Wikidata for all designations that, e.g., allow at least 80% of Grenache! I guess we could import information from the "varietal" / "cépage" attribute in the Wikipedia infoboxes. What do you think? --Dipsode87 (talk) 10:05, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It could be interesting to notify the grape varieties authorized in an appellation. It could also be good to indicate whether it is a compulsory single varietal or a compulsory blend. finally, certain designations prohibit the production of certain colors. typically, no rosé in the Chateauneuf du Pape AOC appellation!
To be sure of grape varieties by appellation, the ideal is to check the appellation specifications on the INAO website, for France. For other countries, you should see the local certification services. Marianne Casamance (talk) 15:24, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
