Occupations
[edit]We also have a list in France for occupations. I'd be grateful if someone could import it.
- https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_de_saints_patrons (on wikipedia, in a list format, with French articles already linked, so easy to parse)
- Canonical one on the website of the French catholic church: http://nominis.cef.fr/contenus/saint/patron.html
Broadening the property's scope
[edit]@ChristianKl, Tinker Bell, Nomen ad hoc, Jura1:

Would you agree to broadening this property's scope, so it can apply to other religions as well? "Protector saint or deity" could be used as a hypernym (suggested by Tinker Bell). Aside from Wikidata property related to Christianity (Q64264420), the property would also be an instance of Wikidata property related to religions and beliefs (Q22983697).
This suggestion came up when I recently proposed a new property to represent the guiding deities of Rule Of Osha (Q752660).

Is this property strictly more specific than dedicated to (P825)? In other words:
- should the property dedicated to (P825) never be used when it is possible to use patron saint (P417) instead?
- should patron saint (P417) be marked as subproperty of (P1647)dedicated to (P825)?
Horcrux (talk) 15:01, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think they are different - although it may vary for different languages and local usages.
- A city has a patron saint, but it is not dedicated to the saint. On the other hand, a church is dedicated to the saint, but it doesn't have a patron. Pere prlpz (talk) 21:25, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Pere prlpz: Are you sure about this? So all these 3729 items are wrong and should be fixed? May you provide any source? --Horcrux (talk) 11:11, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
Broadening, deities and other spirits
[edit]Should this propert be broadeded to include patron deities and other spirits? I've tried proposing a separate property for patron gods but the general impression I got from that nomination was that it was a better idea to broaden this property instead. StarTrekker (talk) 02:27, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- @StarTrekker As said above, I think it would be a good idea to broaden this property to include more types of religions, such as ancient Roman religion (Q337547) or Ancient Greek religion (Q855270). Liber008 (talk) 21:13, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
