A pilot project of Wiki Tuesday Western to add Wikidata for Western Libraries published journals on the OJS platform to enrich the metadata available in the University of Western Ontario's instance of Scholia.
Objectives[edit]
- To explore Scholia and how the data visualizations change as we add Wikidata
- To share metadata about open access journals published on Western Libraries Open Journal System (OJS)
- To promote OJS journals and the work of Western's scholars
- To provide a model that shows the potential of Scholia and work at Western
- To enhance the Scholia instance for Western University
- An opportunity to increase our knowledge about data privacy in relation to researcher information
- Feed VIAF info/authority identifiers into Wikidata
- Stick to organizational stuff - not peoples (data privacy)
Benefit of adding scholarly journals to Scholia/Wikidata[edit]
- Linked Data for all journals uploaded. (Can be extracted and used in other systems)
- Create new data visualizations of the collection using Scholia.
- Continue to explore how we can use QuickStatements to bulk create Wikidata items
- Using an open product to visualize scholarly information
- A model that shows how we can use Scholia
