About[edit]

This page is to keep track of activities taking place in the framework of the software project Robustifying Scholia (Q63437117), which aims to make Scholia (Q45340488) more robust to usage at scale and to address other performance issues, as described in the grant proposal Robustifying Scholia: paving the way for knowledge discovery and research assessment through Wikidata (Q63433973).

The project is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (Q1200258) under grant number G-2019-11458. Development of Scholia takes place on GitHub, with a generic issue tracker and one that is specific for the project.

Goals[edit]

For this phase of project development, the goal is to orient the project in 8 categories of development:

  • Back-end development and testing with pilot corpora
  • Redesign of the Scholia user interface for better usability, e.g. site navigation and internationalization
  • Improving integration with WikiCite curation workflows, e.g. around missing data
  • Enhancing Wikidata-based reference management for scholarly writing workflows
  • Establishing metrics to generate usage stats for Scholia pages and key bibliographic properties and items
  • Improving documentation of corpus, code, queries, workflows, examples and related resources, as well as limits of Scholia
  • Double select 2019 metrics by early 2020
  • Integrate access to Scholia into Wikipedia articles and elsewhere
