The first institution named at the bottom of the page, after "All rights reserved", is Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Q15944807). As can be seen from the examples, one species might have more than one entry; the .../taxon/... entry appears to be the most comprehensive, so perhaps we should go with the formatter URL above (the $1 is long enough already, without having to add "taxon/" each time); if it transpires that there are many (sub)species with a .../dbb/... entry only, I guess we could always add a second property at a later date.

•  Comment It's definitely preferable for there to be only 1 or at most rarely some duplicate values for an identifer, so if you're ok with limiting it to the "taxon" case then I think that's the way we should go here. You could propose a second property for the other links (maybe a URL property)? Anyway, just 1 value for an external id is almost always the right choice because it makes lookup and matching much simpler. ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
