Motivation[edit]
This would be a qualifier for "feast days" to indicate the category into which a celebrated saint belongs.
For example, there are (see en:Calendar_of_saints#History), for the Tridentine calendar (Q7883976): "Martyrs, Confessors who were bishops, Doctors of the Church, Confessors who were not Bishops, Abbots, Virgins, Non-Virgins", while for the Calendarium Romanum Generale (1969) (Q98782022): "Martyrs (with special formulas for missionary martyrs and virgin martyrs), Pastors (subdivided into bishops, generic pastors, founders of churches, and missionaries), Doctors of the Church, Virgins, and (generic) Saints (with special formulas for abbots, monks, nuns, religious, those noted for works of mercy, educators, and [generically] women saints)."
I propose to call it "category", instead of "common" (common (Q1120307)): while commonly, it will coincide with the Common (lat.: Commune), there are also exceptions, e.g. Mary Magdalene (Q63070) whose category is "Penitent" in Tridentine calendar (Q7883976), which is not a Common there; or Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, archangels (Q98782976), whose category is "Archangels", which is also not associated with a Common. --MF-W 16:01, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
